WTB: Keithley 2000 power transformer
« on: December 31, 2015, 02:34:10 pm »
Keithley part # is TR-299. This particular one is marked REV. B6, and has an open primary.

The last time I checked Keithley/Tek have a $150 minimum so I'd rather find another source. This is why Agilent is much better, last time I bought from them, it was only $50 AND you can find the parts/pricing and order online.  :-+

Surely someone has a scrapper.  :)

Thanks!

Sure there is not just a failed thermal fuse there that is possible to replace with a donor from another cheap n cheerful wall wart donor one.

Already checked for one - if there is, it's buried under the primary windings. I'll post a picture next time I'm in the lab.

Was scrapping 2 wall warts today for the copper wire, and found a different style of fuse, they buried a PTC thermistor in there instead of the one time fuse. Was well buried under the tape.

Here's the picture. As you can see, the primary wires at the bottom go under the windings.

I have a couple of 2015THD spares units. If £50 including shipping from the UK is ok, then let me know and I'll test them to make sure they're ok.

They wound on a winding for a secondary after they did the fuse. New transformer time, take the offer from KDJS as the new one will work. If it was unobtanium and you were willing to spend the money a rewind would be an option.

Minimum order for me through Tektronix in October was $30. Maybe you should ask them for another quote?

Thanks, but looking in the service manual for the 2015THD, it lists two part numbers for the transformer. TR-328 and TR-332.
I'm a bit hesitant to use a different part number...

Interesting. Where are you located? Perhaps that makes a difference?
It has been close to a year since I last ordered parts from them...

You're right, nidlaX. Minimum order is now $30. That's great news!
Bad news: The price is $166.  :wtf:

That's nuts! :-[

Hahaha, doh! Good luck getting that transformer. You could ask the OEMs directly to see if they will sell to you for less. I believe there are multiple US based manufacturers of that transformer.

Bump

A spider has made a nest in the DMM since I left the cover part-way off. I'm considering charging him/her rent to cover the $166 charge that Tektronix sells it for.  :)

Yes, still looking  |O

Still looking.

Found a used one in the UK, but they want $100 to ship a 2 pound transformer to 01756 in the US.  :--  :wtf:
http://www.plccenter.com/en-US/Buy/MULTICOMP/129402500
They have no stock in the US.

Some additional research shows that there's two manufacturers at least
MULTICOMP PART # 129-4025-00
They appear to be dead/out of business.
and
Northlake Engineering, INC. Bristol, OR. Part # K1-433P
I contacted them and the response was "Good Morning Jay – Please note this is a custom and proprietary design for Tektronix.  You will have to contact them directly for replacement parts."

Been there, done that. |O

Jay,

See if any of they guys here on the forum, locate in UK, would send it to you, could be cheaper.

They send it to the UK address, and then he send it to you, this can be an option.

Whats so special about this transformer, how many secondary voltages? Can,t you buy two standard transformers a d get it going, or some manufacturers that will make them for you like Amplimo?
