That was the cheapest method from Fedex, I will check into a few more services and send you a message with some more options.

Sorry guys, it costs money to ship any weight internationally.  You can get an estimate on the FEDEX website.  I'm not sure what the exact originating zip code is but 32771 will be close.  Don't forget to add a little for packing materials and a box.

I have used US Postal Service to ship bare circuit boards internationally.  First Class mail is cheap and reasonably quick for a standard size envelope; the downside is you don't get any tracking information.  Some postal service options feature this but the price goes up quickly for anything that doesn't fit in an envelope.

My signal generator is on the way...woohoo!

I was given permission from my manager to ship USPS earlier today which will allow me lower rates. But as Jon mentioned, there is no tracking method and delivery time usually get's delayed. We have always avoided USPS in the past because of issues with them. There have been a few unit's in the past that arrived up to 1 month later than expected due to item's getting "lost in transit" and one item that never arrived.

If you would like to use USPS I would strongly advise using insuring the item's.

That's strange. Usually USPS does provide tracking no.

USPS = US Postal Service, not UPS.  USPS can provide tracking but it's usually not detailed and lack of information doesn't mean the package isn't making progress.

The best deal for shipping within the US is Flat Rate Priority Mail.  There are several size boxes and anything that fits goes for the same price.  Unfortunately, I don't believe the large size box is big enough for a piece of rack-mount gear.

Yes, USPS is not UPS. And USPS usually does provide tracking. And it is usually quite detailed until the parcel gets to international area. At least one is able to track it within U.S. and check for the parcel weight.

USPS is by far the cheapest option for international shipping. Reliability depends on the country, I know some eBay sellers refuse to ship USPS to Italy because of the extreme delays and number of lost packages, but many other countries can be quite decent. Collecting insurance, if available, is a hassle, though. Not much point in paying $100 in 'insured shipping' for a $100 piece of equipment. Unfortunately USPS discontinued international surface mail to most (all?) destinations a number of years ago, that was a good option for shipping heavy equipment cheaply, although transit times could be long.

My HP 651B Oscillator arrived today.  It's sweet!  Fully operation and in excellent condition.  It's a nice addition to my bench.

There's been some discussion about this stuff offered by prestigetest and I'll have to say I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.

The attached photos show the professionally packaged shipment in a heavy duty cardboard box with staples to keep it closed.

The next photo is the packing inside the box.  It was well packed in bubble wrap.  The oscillator was surrounded on all sides by bubble wrap, with many layers wrapped around the oscillator itself.

The last picture is the oscillator.  It looks in near-new condition.

Before anybody asks, yes, this thing is huge.  But it's got a huge dynamic range and signal/noise ratio and it has KNOBS for adjusting frequency and amplitude.  Knobs on the screen don't always work so well for fine adjustments.

Received my package from prestigetest

First of all I like to write something, I am not someone who buys stuff from a forum member only with few posts and specially when they are on other side of the world. It is always for some reason dodgy for me, but prestigetest proved me wrong, I never give him the feeling like I don’t trust this transaction but if I did, my apologizes to prestigetest.

That being said, like every other shipments posted above my package was packaged really good, I can say this is one of the best packaging I got over the years (and I order a lot).
Prestigetest send the multimeters same day when I made the payment and my package got stuck in Dutch Customs for 10 days, which pisses me off always because I work on same airport as they and believe me they have too much people running/driving around doing nothing…  I had to pay 27 euro’s for the clearance to Dutch customs, package was not opened.

The multimeters look really good and are in perfect shape  I couldn’t test these because they are set on 110V, I ordered a service manual for Fluke 8860A and I have to look in to 8010A how to set it to 220V.

Here some photo’s, it was packaged with a huge box:

A lot bubble plastic:

Even more bubble plastic and bench meters are wrapped in bubble plastic too:

8860A out of plastic wrapping:

8010A out of plastic wrapping, and oops it is upside down  ::) :

And here they are on my bench, I need to free some space but my bench is not finished yet so I will stack these somewhere else for time being:

Yeah I like the 8860A, I think it will serve me good once I set it up to 220V and 8010A can do the Amp measurements since 8860A cant.

I think I found its final destination, but funny you mention about the power supplies Dave.S, my most favorite one was not there yet and after I took those photo’s I put it up there, I am little bit scary about the weight that shelf has to carry because this big baby weights around 40kg (I think). Actually it covers all my power supplies and it also can deliver AC from 0 till 250V but Xantrex is more for precision work.

Poor Voltcraft power supply is still waiting it's new volt and amp meter  ::)

EDIT: I look up the weight of EA-4000 power supply and it is 40kg  :o

A case of the model number matching it's weight  ::)
But that big clunker looks good on any desk , even when placed next to a few thousand watts switcher . Man that is sex on a stick !

Sorry for OT post but it I just found where Tesla got inspired for it's generator, it's almost same as the HP 651B, only it has additional square wave output. I can't comment on the inside, haven't seen it.
