3. The current reading has an offset of about 15-20mA. Don't expect it to be a precision PSU :)

do you mean it always has 15-20mA on the display even when no load on it
or is it reading +/- 15-20mA when loaded ?

Actually it's always reads a bit lower. It's not a constant offset though. For examples, it doesn't show any reading until around 13mA is being drawn (and it displays 1mA), but between 50-100mA it's only reading maybe 2mA low or so. Then the offset (in terms of absolute value, not %) starts to widen, to about 13-14mA at 1A, and about 30-40mA between 2-3A, etc.

Sounds like ADC non-linearity not being well compensated for. Not a surprise in a cheap design, but not a showstopper. It looks like it could be quite a respectable little supply.

Take it further apaaaaht

Seems to be common. Does that unit by any chance have the same panel meters you send me a while back? Because they behave the same almost to the last mA. I don't mind, it's still accurate enough for me, but strange.

if there is a model of this smps power supply with some 10 amps, I would take one too.

There actually is one 30V 10A model, CPS-3010. You can find some sellers on Aliexpress. Curiously though the faceplate has the brand name "GOPHERT" instead of "GOPHER" as in my 3205 model. From what I can tell it's either made by the same manufacturer (who can't spell the same name the same way twice), or an exact clone (if there was an "original"). If you're really interested I can get one for you at a similar price point as the Aliexpress sellers.

I did not plan to buy one of these actually (have other things to buy !)
but I remember this and will ask you again in the future.
thanks.

No, I don't think they are the exact same panel meters but I wouldn't be surprised if they are based on the same chip and circuitry.

Some test results of this little PSU attached. These are waveforms at various V/A settings as I push the output on button.

The second last picture shows a spike when I switch the unit on using the main power switch at the back. The unit always defaults to output off when turned on but you can see a spike of about 1-2V there.

In the final picture I tried to see how fast the current limiting works. The PSU was set to deliver 500mA while the DC load was set to draw 2A. Not sure if that's the proper way to test it though.

I also received one of the last UT61Es yesterday. Shipment took about two weeks to Czech Republic but I guess it was slightly delayed at the HK post because of the holiday they've had. Franky is honestly one of the best sellers I've met, I've asked him for extra calibration of the meter he offered for free (hope he didn't forget it, but I think I won't notice a difference) and the communication with him was great. I am just thinking about buying better test leads from him, UT61E deserves better than those provided.

Thanks again for the very kind words :) Sairon, don't worry, I did "calibrate" your UT61E against my references on the DCV range. I said "calibrate" in quote marks obviously because it's not a proper lab grade calibration, but I did make sure it was within a couple of counts on multiple voltages against my Agilent 34461A.

Franky,

Do you have any plan to offer these PSUs? If so can you give some idea of prices?

Yes, I will likely stock a small number of these to see if there's any demand. Will probably have them ready by early next week. Pricing will be around the $65 mark on the forum, worldwide shipping included. If anyone's interested to pre-order please PM me or leave a message here.

Heads-up for anyone who would like to order anything from me here and through my eBay store - I will be away for a vacation starting end of this month and won't return until mid July. During that time I will not be able to process any order.

Frankie, just bought the Brymen BM829 from your ebay store. Hope you can manage to sent it out before your vacation.

It will definitely be shipped way before that :) I'll try to get it out today, but weather here isn't great right now so I'll see. It will be no later than Monday in any case. You'll get notified by eBay as soon as it's shipped, and with the tracking number.

Just received the UT139 that I ordered. Honk Kong to US in 5 days. Excellent! Thank you!

Glad to know it arrived quickly! US is one of my favourite destinations as it's usually rather quick and reliable. I wish I could say the same for a few other countries though...

On that note I am actually considering blocking certain countries from ordering through my eBay store, mainly because their customs always seem to stop everything and cause massive delays, prompting the customers to open dispute cases which results in very negative impact on my account status :( For everyone's information eBay is implementing this new policy whereby any opened cases, regardless of whether they eventually get resolved happily or not, will be counted against the seller as a "defect". If a very low defect rate threshold is reached the seller will lose the top rated status and commission rates will sky rocket! If defect rate is high enough the account can even be shut down.

I will still happily accept orders from any countries here on the forum, outside of the eBay system. I will offer the same guarantees you get through eBay, just not using their system.

Actually, South Africa is fine. It's not always too bad and buyers there generally have the right ideas of how long they need to wait before escalating the issue. It's mainly a few European countries I am having trouble with. Top on my list is surprisingly Germany :( I have had 2 cases opened against me in the last 2 days and I can basically forget about ever achieving top rated status in their market now. My volume in that market (DE/AT/CH) was never high due to the fact that they couldn't even see my store at all until fairly recently. Now with 2 opened cases I will really struggle with the defect rate threshold :(

Well, the biggest suprise from the much loved SAPO would be delivery next day on something not sent express. even Speed Service only offers a next day delivery, unless you are willing to pay the $100 extra as service fee for same day delivery and get it to the main post office before 10AM, and the recipient can get to his PO before they close a 4PM.

   :o   :wtf:

So I´m curious how long it will last. Some days ago I´ve ordered some little items in your eBay-store (as User: Pa...ne2005). They are immediately marked as sended (June, 11th).  :-+
Unfortunately by the normal way: Free international shipping. I´ve thought, registered sending for low cost items made no sense. At least at that time...
After which time I should expect a problem?

BTW: Don´t know, if it´s comparable. Once I´ve ordered an UT61E from an other seller (Dino-Direct, China) via registered airmail. It has not changed anything. The package could tracked until the german custom. Then it vanished...
I´ve figured this incident was unique, until your posting.  :palm:

FYI: Your eBay-offers still don´t appear in Germany (e.g. searching for Brymen BM869 worldwide).
At least, your eBay-store is meanwhile visible via the link in your signature.

Greetings,

Hartmut

If  the item arrived @ IPZ Frankfurt, you can consider it as not lost but beeing in the wait queue for customs service.
From there it lasts from 2 days to 4 weeks  until it arrives at your home.
I've got all the range in there.
The tracking is for the cheap post methods only until IPZ. German Post does not tracking further.
While I had some shipments which track 'til my home address

Also wondering where everyone gets green & yellow croc alligator clips.

I see no chance to receive the lost device, because the device was lost already some years ago.
I got a replacement sent, this time without difficulty, it had to be signed for it at the front door.
It could be tracked all the way up to my signature.

In my opinion: Airmail shipments usually arrive @ IPZ Frankfurt. Don´t they?

Greetings,

Hartmut

If the package clears your customs smoothly I'd estimate that it should arrive in about 2 weeks after the day it was shipped, but it's really hard to say. Normally I would ask my customers to wait about 6 weeks and if the order doesn't arrive within that time I would issue a full refund. I would of course highly appreciate it if the customer pays me back in case it does eventually arrive after that.

Please contact me directly either through here or the eBay messaging system if there's any concern. Please don't open a dispute case before contacting me, that will help me as a seller immensely!

Yes, that seems to be my experience too with tracking to Germany, although not always. If an item gets stuck in your customs tracking tends to stop working from that point onwards. I have seen tracking work all the way to the delivery as well, but those are usually items that go through customs without the long delay.

Yes, I am aware of that. But until a couple of months ago even the direct link to my eBay store did not work. People in Germany/Austria/Switzerland could not see anything in my store, at all. I believe my items will only appear in the German search result when I achieve the top rated status in your market, which is unlikely to happen any time soon now :(

Yes, I'm still selling them. However, they are currently out of stock (well, see below), and new units won't arrive until after I come back from the holiday in mid-late July unfortunately...

Strictly speaking I still have one set in stock, but there's some issue with the leads that come with it. Brymen will be sending me replacement leads but they won't arrive until the next shipment (after I come back). If you don't mind having the meter first without the leads (or with non-silicone Brymen leads) let me know.

Also wondering where everyone gets green & yellow croc alligator clips.

I actually do have these alligator clips in yellow and green (and blue): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171220194350

But as with numerous other items I just never got around listing them...
