Thanks, I've bought many alligator clips from many places to only find flimsy construction or obnoxious design; I don't mind paying a bit more for good quality clips. I'm looking for two different types, a set of closed type (where the entire jaws are covered by a boot) and an larger open type, where the jaws are open all the way to the pivot point.
iloveelectronics, do you have sources for 230V FX-888D's (or maybe it's a problem because it's a Japanese company)?
That should not be an issue using them in Europe though, right? Any information about the prices perhaps?
Thanks for the info! I'm pondering if I should order one internationally.
Why aren't you selling these on eBay, BTW? There seem to be a demand for ~230V/50Hz versions, and you have good rep, so it might work despite AliExpress and the US-based sellers of the 120V version.
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that the authentic Chinese version is still somewhat different from the EU versions (maybe to reduce costs?). I don't remember where I saw it, though. At least, there seems to be a potential distinction on the power PCB between 220V and 230V (there's 220V, 100/230V, and 110/120/240V?!), but I can't see why 220-240V would be different versions, assuming they're all 50Hz, which is the case in China.
Hi Franky, looked at your store the other day. You have a list of your products that fit this one?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silicone-Test-Leads-Right-Angled-and-Straight-Shrouded-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-/170985687131 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silicone-Test-Leads-Right-Angled-and-Straight-Shrouded-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-/170985687131)
Having said that, I have privately sourced heavy equipment including power supplies, electronic DC loads, scopes, rework stations, etc. for many of my customers. I have in fact also going to start selling a new Yihua 2-in-1 rework station: http://www.yihua-gz.com/Products_detail.asp?id=460&sortid=271 (http://www.yihua-gz.com/Products_detail.asp?id=460&sortid=271) More details to follow in a future post.
What I would like to see in your store: These (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silicone-Test-Leads-50cm-with-Sprung-Hooks-and-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-Red-Black-/200979921195), but in green and yellow.
Possible? :D
Main reason I have not started selling these, and other bigger and more expensive equipment, is the size/space and the actual effort it takes to package and ship these things. ... There's also the concern of potential problems that could come up. Returns and repairs etc would be difficult to deal with for these heavy items, especially when I only act as a reseller instead of an official distributor.I suppose that makes sense.

can you sell the yihua 853AA station ? if yes at what price, with shipping to europe ? thanks.
was it hard to get franky.com?
This is a customer returned CEM DT-337 clamp meter I just received yesterday.
Franky, do you mind me asking how you handle overseas customer returns? Is it complicated or expensive to handle returns from customers in the US?
From a buyer's perspective, the HK ePacket system is just magic. I live at least 2 days away (shipping-wise) from the closest city where overseas mail is received and I still receive your shipments in about 7 days. It's truly amazing.
^^ I am also interested in that..
^^ I am also interested in that..+1
I'd be interested.
I've ordered one of the last of UT61E-s and it arrived today. It took 11 days in total (would be faster if not delayed by crappy post service here, they need 4 working days to move priority mail in the same city! :blah:).
Franky did excellent job in protecting the contents, even the outer box is undamaged. Thanks :-+
HI Franky,
kindly let me know how much does the power supply you are using for the test for the clamp meter
else do you have a picture of the inside, as it seems to be a nice one.
thank
shailesh
Yes, the link Creep posted above is the PSU I'm using. In terms of price, I most likely won't be able to compete with the Aliexpress price (for the free shipping countries). If I were to stock them it would probably be in the mid-high $60's shipped worldwide. It's a switch mode PSU but personally I quite like it. It's very compact and relatively light weight. And it doesn't overshoot. I will post more pictures as soon as I get a chance.
The aliexpress price for me on that one is $61.75, so if you sold them with price mid-high $60's, I don't see the problem.. it's not that much more expensive, and its better to buy from you than some random aliexpress store...
Thanks for the vote of confidence :) If there's enough interest on this PSU I may very well stock some and start selling. .Be aware, I see Capxon brand capacitors inside, possibly the worst brand in existance today. Don't be surprised if the unit fails after 3 or 4 years.
I had a few minutes (literally) earlier today at the shop to open it up and take just a few pictures.
Thanks for the pictures Franky,
the knob for voltage is it a rotary encoder? else whats the resolution you have when you change the voltage
thanks
shailesh

Oh dear... the curse of the crapxons strike againBe aware, I see Capxon brand capacitors inside, possibly the worst brand in existance today. Don't be surprised if the unit fails after 3 or 4 years.
Thanks for the advice. I will probably replace them before disaster strikes!
Thanks for the vote of confidence :) If there's enough interest on this PSU I may very well stock some and start selling. At least these are not as heavy as linear PSU's so shipping would not be as troublesome and costly.
if there is a model of this smps power supply with some 10 amps, I would take one too.

There actually is one 30V 10A model, CPS-3010. You can find some sellers on Aliexpress. Curiously though the faceplate has the brand name "GOPHERT" instead of "GOPHER" as in my 3205 model. From what I can tell it's either made by the same manufacturer (who can't spell the same name the same way twice), or an exact clone (if there was an "original"). If you're really interested I can get one for you at a similar price point as the Aliexpress sellers.
I see that these (5a and 10a) models have cc and cv, but do they have current limiting?
Looks like they exists in a variety of models, 60v-3a, 60v-5a, 16v-10a and so on, those are named gophert,
3. The current reading has an offset of about 15-20mA. Don't expect it to be a precision PSU :)

do you mean it always has 15-20mA on the display even when no load on it
or is it reading +/- 15-20mA when loaded ?

Actually it's always reads a bit lower. It's not a constant offset though. For examples, it doesn't show any reading until around 13mA is being drawn (and it displays 1mA), but between 50-100mA it's only reading maybe 2mA low or so. Then the offset (in terms of absolute value, not %) starts to widen, to about 13-14mA at 1A, and about 30-40mA between 2-3A, etc.

Seems to be common. Does that unit by any chance have the same panel meters you send me a while back? Because they behave the same almost to the last mA. I don't mind, it's still accurate enough for me, but strange.
I also received one of the last UT61Es yesterday. Shipment took about two weeks to Czech Republic but I guess it was slightly delayed at the HK post because of the holiday they've had. Franky is honestly one of the best sellers I've met, I've asked him for extra calibration of the meter he offered for free (hope he didn't forget it, but I think I won't notice a difference) and the communication with him was great. I am just thinking about buying better test leads from him, UT61E deserves better than those provided.
Hi sairon , i got a 61e from franky to, totally happy with mine also
i think i have bought every test lead franky sells!
word of warning though dont show any of frankys leads to your friends
or you will have to do what i did and buy more of them :-DD
Franky,
Do you have any plan to offer these PSUs? If so can you give some idea of prices?
Dave
Frankie, just bought the Brymen BM829 from your ebay store. Hope you can manage to sent it out before your vacation.
Just received the UT139 that I ordered. Honk Kong to US in 5 days. Excellent! Thank you!
I know SA is one of those countries. So I have to order from you direct, no problem.
It's mainly a few European countries I am having trouble with. Top on my list is surprisingly Germany:o :wtf:
BTW: Don´t know, if it´s comparable. Once I´ve ordered an UT61E from an other seller (Dino-Direct, China) via registered airmail. It has not changed anything. The package could tracked until the german custom. Then it vanished...If the item arrived @ IPZ Frankfurt, you can consider it as not lost but beeing in the wait queue for customs service.
I´ve figured this incident was unique, until your posting. :palm:
If the item arrived @ IPZ Frankfurt, you can consider it as not lost but beeing in the wait queue for customs service.
From there it lasts from 2 days to 4 weeks until it arrives at your home.
I've got all the range in there.
The tracking is for the cheap post methods only until IPZ. German Post does not tracking further.
While I had some shipments which track 'til my home address
So I´m curious how long it will last. Some days ago I´ve ordered some little items in your eBay-store (as User: Pa...ne2005). They are immediately marked as sended (June, 11th). :-+

FYI: Your eBay-offers still don´t appear in Germany (e.g. searching for Brymen BM869 worldwide).
At least, your eBay-store is meanwhile visible via the link in your signature.
PS: Have a nice vacation. Travelling?
Franky are you still selling brymen 257? Your store says 0/108 sold.
Also wondering where everyone gets green & yellowcrocalligator clips.
Just an actual update: 2014-06-20 14:23, IPZ Niederaula, The international shipment has arrived at the import parcel center
In my opinion: Airmail shipments usually arrive @ IPZ Frankfurt. Don´t they?

So, no Frankfurt is not alone ;-)
If the package clears your customs smoothly I'd estimate that it should arrive in about 2 weeks after the day it was shipped, but it's really hard to say. Normally I would ask my customers to wait about 6 weeks and if the order doesn't arrive within that time I would issue a full refund. I would of course highly appreciate it if the customer pays me back in case it does eventually arrive after that.
Please contact me directly either through here or the eBay messaging system if there's any concern. Please don't open a dispute case before contacting me, that will help me as a seller immensely!
Franky, have you considered carrying one of those SMD tweezer meters such as this ones?

I am in the market for one (I care about R, C and Diodes, not that much about L).
I actually have! It's one of those many items which I have had a look at, and am actually happy about the quality but just never got the time to list in my store. This thread makes it easier for me to post stuff like these :)
Here are a few pictures I took of the Mastech MS8910. It actually works quite well, reasonably accurate and all that. The yellow one you posted looks like a V&A VA503. I might have a look at that one too when I come back from my holiday in a few weeks.
i'd buy one just to pull the guts out of and put a lead and a pair of banana jacks on.

Wouldn't something like the a pair of common SMD tweezers with banana plugs be a cheaper option in that case? You can just replace the plugs with jacks. You can find those by just searching "SMD tweezers" on eBay.

I have the two tweezers you linked.i'd buy one just to pull the guts out of and put a lead and a pair of banana jacks on.

It also comes stock with some LCR meters http://r.ebay.com/S1Avxt (http://r.ebay.com/S1Avxt)

I've used the first one, it was complete garbage. I've used the second ones, whilst not bad, they certainly aren't great either.
Generally the build quality is absolutely rubbish, they have very little strength against torsion, so the tips are easily out of alignment and is very frustrating, that and the cabling is horrendous too, may as well be made of smelted down coke cans...
That meter on the other hand looks like the actual tweezers are well made, nice steel tweezers with pretty solid looking tweezer heads - which are needed if you want to probe a board that needs a bit of pressure to get through the oxide layers for a good reading.
On the other hand, if you know of a really good set of tweezers, id be more than happy to know/have a review on them.
Ok all good.
I had put NiMh cells in both fully charged but it didn't like them.
I stole some batteries from the TV remote and it is measuring current fine.

P.S. I have just set my eBay store to away mode as I'll be leaving for a rather lengthy holiday tomorrow. You should change the title of the thread and maybe your signature to reflect your absence until July 17?
Hi Franky, any chance that you have meter extension leads about 6' or 2 meters long? I prefer the 90 degree plugs on the meter end (for my Fluke 179). There are plenty of times when I'm working on CNC machines that I need to read the meter and operate the control. Long lead extensions would be nice.
Thank you
BillWojo
Just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that I just came back from my holiday, though still may not be functioning at full speed yet due to a massive jet lag...
Franky, can you get these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/90-Degree-Right-Angled-Power-Supply-IEC-Plug-Connector-Adaptor-Vertical-/200906777825 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/90-Degree-Right-Angled-Power-Supply-IEC-Plug-Connector-Adaptor-Vertical-/200906777825) but with the connector rotated 180 degrees?
Glad to see you're back, sir. I hope you had a good vacation. I just placed an order for a UT139C.
Hello!
TASI-8620 Thermometer have the calibration function like DM6802 (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/odd-one-'tondaj'-dm6802-ii-standalone-temperature-meter/msg193378/#msg193378) ?
Thank you!
Thanks for replying so quickly! I suppose what I meant was, did you ever have happen to test one after one year (for example) to see if it had drifted at all?
Hi Franky, any news on my extra long test leads? I didn't want you to forget about them.
Take care
BillWojo
Thanks for doing that, that sounds very good. Thanks for replying so quickly! I suppose what I meant was, did you ever have happen to test one after one year (for example) to see if it had drifted at all?
Just tested my own BM257 with the same standard voltages, and it behaves just like any other new BM257 I have tested. I guess it's fairly safe to say that it hasn't drifted much, if at all.
Thanks for doing that, that sounds very good.
Do you still invite people to PM you about purchases?
Oh, there was one other thing I was curious about — the data sheet says that the low voltage indicator lights up “below approx 2.3V”. That suggests that it would be OK to use Ni-MH cells with it, but I was wondering whether you (or someone else) had any experience with that.
Wow. It was delivered yesterday. Thank you.Glad to see you're back, sir. I hope you had a good vacation. I just placed an order for a UT139C.
Vacation was great! Saw your order, will be shipping it this afternoon (HK time). Thanks!
Franky do you sell a 4mm adaptor which has single male one end and double female the other so you can plug 2 test leads in to one binding post ?
Hi Franky, how much it costs the PL-50 feed through termination that is shown in the last video of mjlorton.
thanks for the link pickle but they dont half look crap, sorry :-DD
I just use a small box with 4 females on it. Somehow that does not sound right.
I have not found any decent unshrouded stackable plugs i like, and don't want to replace the decent plugs on my best leads with crap stackable ones , hence looking for a " splitter "
how long are the probe bits, from the end of the plastic to the tip of the metal ?
also do they except shrouded plugs in the back end ?
Hello Franky,
Is it possible for you to source (gold plated) banana plugs with this sort of spring contacts:
http://www.nakamichiplug.com/pic/0534D-001.jpg (http://www.nakamichiplug.com/pic/0534D-001.jpg)
doesn't need to be with metal shells, would actually prefer just normal black&red plastic shells.
In my experience this type of spring contact has been far better than anything else for reliable and low contact resistance. I bought these couple of years ago from Chinese-run electronics shop in Bangkok for very reasonable price but haven't been able to find them anywhere else.

Hi am a regular customer of Franky, bought some nice products from him such as Rigol power supply, frequency generator and oscillocope, he is a nice seller keep it up

Hey Franky, any update on finding some decent Kelvin leads? Now that I have a better quality meter (I traded some stuff I had laying around for a 34401A) I am looking a bit more intently. Cheers mate!

Yes, I have. Will post some pictures later later today when I get back to the shop. I am still way behind in posting a lot of the stuff I already have in stock...

Hi franky,
kindly let me know if you have some dummy loads- electronic controlled
regards
shailesh
Franky do you have other models as this one goes only upto 6 volts would like to test power supplies with it, do you have other models lets say upto 30 volts as input and 10 amps as load , else how much is the maynuo?
The kit comes with a pair of good quality gold plated kelvin clips, 4 pieces of 13AWG silicone wires each about 60cm long (2 black + 2 red), a pair of black and red heat shrink tubing, and 2 pairs of banana plugs (choice of either shrouded or unshrouded).
Hi Franky. LCR meters require shielded wires for good performance. Is it possible to get shielded silicone wires?
I have yet to find shielded silicone wire. I'll keep an eye on it.Thank you. I asked about wires suitable for kelvin clips here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/beginners/shielded-cable-for-diy-kelvin-clips-for-de-5000-lcr-meter/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/beginners/shielded-cable-for-diy-kelvin-clips-for-de-5000-lcr-meter/)
I currently have 2 sets of Uni-T UT61E available for sale. As many of you know I used to stock these but not anymore. I got these 2 sets while custom ordering one for another customer (just so I can lower the average shipping cost). Price is $51 for the USA and $53 for everywhere else, shipping with tracking number included. Please post here or PM me if interested. First come first serve.
My 257 arrived today. I can see why these leads are so popular!
Have you ever looked into a case that would suit it, Franky?

OK, here's what I've got. It's a kit, so you will need to do some soldering and heat shrinking. Which may be more work, but you get to control the quality of the soldering and assembly work. You can also customise the length of the wires.
Price on the forum would be $19 per set worldwide shipping included (without tracking). Tracking would be an additional $2.4.
I'm not against this, I just worry about easy soldering to the large thermal mass of those clips. I like the large AWG wire. I have a hakko FX888D.
... as Dave's latest mailbag video has helped promote my store and am going to be very busy packing today!!

I'm going to assemble a set myself and will let you know how that goes. May not be today though as Dave's latest mailbag video has helped promote my store and am going to be very busy packing today!!

Ah, I didn’t click on it because it mentions other models in the title and I assumed the size was off. But it does look like it would be appropriate. You wouldn’t happen to have a photo lying around of it with the 257 inside, would you?My 257 arrived today. I can see why these leads are so popular!
Have you ever looked into a case that would suit it, Franky?
Sorry I didn't see your question until SeanB's post.
You can try this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171047385726 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171047385726)

Franky can you get Desoldering Irons/Machines ?
there is not much variety in the UK
only 3/4 I can find that dont need a bank load to purchase.
A shipment from Franky arrived today. Ordered on the 30th, shipped on the 31th, arrived on the 8th. That's very fast for free shipping from .hk to .ch, thanks.
A question for Franky: can I pick up some items from you in person? I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong in the fall, and when carrying stuff myself, Switzerland's tax free limit is much higher (approx. $330) than when sending items by postal service (approx. $71.)
Impressive lab I must say, and a lot tidier than Dave's. ;)
And a great view as well I would guess.
Franky, I have been meaning to drop you a note to say thank you. I received the 2 meter long custom made lead extensions at the beginning of the week. All I can say is thank you, they are exactly what I needed. Now I can actually watch my meter when I'm testing switches, etc at the other end of a machine. Any machine tool service technician would love a set of there. Very well made and nice heavy but supple cable. Your the man!

Franky, I've recently got a set of leads and I'm very happy with the quality. I was wondering - do you have anything similar to these:

but with a grabber on the end? Something like this:

In a recent video on Martin's Youtube channel he showcased one that I sent him (at about 11:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzyNSxTTSRw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzyNSxTTSRw)
Notice that they are rather large. They don't connect directly to a wire though, you would connect them to any leads with a shrouded or unshrouded banana plug. I do have a few more of these in stock but just haven't had the time to list them properly. I will likely be pricing them at $13.99 per pair on eBay, 5% off on the forum for direct Paypal deals. I may also allowed them to be bought per piece (either black or red).
Hi Franky, those long grabbers look interesting. How well do they work on screw type terminal strips? I frequently have to check inputs from switches, etc on machines that terminate to long terminal blocks. Sometimes I can bend the crimp terminal up just a bit to grab it with a hook type test lead but I wonder if I can just grab the screw/plate that secures the crimp terminal. They may come in really handy. On modern controls I can just go into the IO tables and watch the bits change, even better but the older control systems are a bit more of a challenge.
Thanks
BillWojo
This type of long grabbers I have been looking for for some time now, we used similar when I was in school around 1986-87, and they also was sized to you used either bananapljugs or hooked them on the multimeter leads.
Can you place sell me some packages? :)
I got a set from Franky recently. The soldering of the wires to the clips wasn't too difficult. I tried to be creative and soldered the wires underneath the rubber band, out of sight, for a clean look. Works fine so far.

It's funny how some of you always seem to want to find/buy things that I haven't officially started selling yet, but just happen to have a few around :)

Do you have any of those nice binding posts that Dave used on the µCurrent Gold?
Thanks. They are a bit larger than what I was looking for though, perhaps too large for what I would use them for - probing IC pins. Definately can't use them on smd parts, but they also seem too large for DIP ICs.

Perhaps something like these will work for you? The leads have 1mm square pin sockets on both ends, which can be connected to standard 1mm pin headers.
Yes, those look to be about the right size. I could always add banana plugs to the end. How much for a set of those?

Two pairs, would like three, but since you only have 4-5..

I will be pricing them at $5.49 per set on eBay, regular air mail shipping (without tracking) included. 5% off here for direct Paypal deals. These have gold plated contact pin and clips, and the clips/hooks can be rotated, hence the relatively higher price comparing to the cheaper alternatives found on eBay. Note, however, that due the shape of the clips these may not work with very fine pitched components, but would work very well for DIP packages and through hole component leads, etc. as the clipping mechanism is very secure.
I made a mistake in the above post about the pin diameter. It's actually thinner than the usual 1mm square header pins, but would work fine with the provided leads or any of the jumper wires I have in my eBay store with the plastic housing removed (see attached photo).
Is there any specific reason you stopped carrying the UT61E? I had planned on picking one up from you, but now I'm pretty seriously looking at the Brymens you carry. My budget is the killer, though.
Is there any specific reason you stopped carrying the UT61E? I had planned on picking one up from you, but now I'm pretty seriously looking at the Brymens you carry. My budget is the killer, though.
Main reason was the unreasonably low pricing many other Chinese sellers are now selling them for. Even to just stay somewhat competitive the margin is so low it simply didn't make any sense anymore. Having said that, I still actually do sell to customers who ask. I don't stock them in large volume anymore though, so usually there is a small lead time of a few days. I would normally order a couple more whenever there is a customer order so sometimes I would happen to have a unit or 2 in stock.
Pricing is $51 for USA and $53 for the rest of the world shipped with tracking number. And I still offer basic testing and adjustment on the DCV range (if necessary) on every unit I sell.
Do you also to this on the other meters?, I'm looking for an extra meter, for occasional testing then adjusting some led drivers, to be used together with my main meters fluke etc, mostly for voltage, maybe some amperage metering, typically in the mA range, and probably up to 1Aish.
And I guess I'm between those cheaper meters, the UT61E and UT139C, I have been looking a bit around, but can't find any good comparision between these, but that is maybe apples and bananas? Lowest price around I can find for the UT61E on other places is $50ish with free shipping, and the UT139C is also $50ishh from you, so $50-$55 is no issue for the price as I see it..
But which to choose.. I have other meters Fluke 87v, 289, Keithley 2015, Agilent 34461A, so those will be used when I need accuracy, but just for other mearsurements when I need a couple of meters hooked up at the same time I guess these are good enough?
Your ebay site is currently showing "out of stock" for the Brymen 257.
When do you expect them to be back in stock?
Franky: did you ever find a source for kelvin clips?
A customer asked me to order one of these SMD vacuum pickup tools recently, and I ordered a couple more. $6.5 per set shipped worldwide (without tracking). PM me your Paypal email address if interested. Thanks!
That was quick on the and vacuum tool. I am interested in a couple.
BTW, do you have a feel for the amount finger force needed on the button? I have used a couple side button types that were quite stiff and it would numb your finger after a while... And increase the hand shaking which made it trickier to place components on pads. I had a softer one with the button on the top (rather than side) that seemed easier. You would use your thumb and the direction gave less shaking. That might not be an issue with a softer side mounted button though.
Either way, i need something so will place an order if you have more.
Cheers

I was wondering if you are able to supply the newer generation of UNI-T multimeters?
I've been looking around for the UT171B but sources seem to be a bit scarce and I'm interested in getting a couple.

The UT171 series is not officially released yet. I've been keeping an eye on this one very closely too ;)

Thanks for clarifying that.
I don't suppose you have any indicative release date as I could be willing to wait?
Hey Frankie, my partner got her stuff today and just wanted to leave some feedback, she said shipping was super quick, it was all excellently packaged, your bubble wrap was good and she'd be happy to deal with you again, very pleased.
Thats all, thanks.
Hey Franky, Payment sent for Brymen BM869, please check it out.
Thanks/ SPRX
Franky, Haven't seen any progress on the item tracking moving since 03rd Sep.
Is it normal, or need some attention to see what is going on...

FYI: Your eBay-offers still don´t appear in Germany (e.g. searching for Brymen BM869 worldwide).
At least, your eBay-store is meanwhile visible via the link in your signature.
Yes, I am aware of that. But until a couple of months ago even the direct link to my eBay store did not work. People in Germany/Austria/Switzerland could not see anything in my store, at all. I believe my items will only appear in the German search result when I achieve the top rated status in your market, which is unlikely to happen any time soon now :(
It happens again... :palm:Isn't Franky just on Holiday or something? Because the Dutch version shows 0 items (+ This Store seller is currently away.). And it never had any problems, unlike the German one.

Yes, sorry guys, I am travelling again with the family and will return on 11th Oct.
It is a national holiday in China.
I have a feeling the vacation is not exactly planned. Have you not noticed any news about HK recently.
It is a national holiday in China.
Last time there was this message, too. But the items were still visible!
Now there is nothing. In no way. Not even the items I had bought 4 month ago.
I am curious, if the behavior of the eBay-store will change after your return. I hope so.
Or it is just like it was in the past... :(
I have in fact also going to start selling a new Yihua 2-in-1 rework station: http://www.yihua-gz.com/Products_detail.asp?id=460&sortid=271 (http://www.yihua-gz.com/Products_detail.asp?id=460&sortid=271) More details to follow in a future post. The blue display is very nice. The soldering iron itself is quite lightweight and handy, compared to my old one and uses the standard Hakko tips. The heat-up time is fast. There is also a sleep mode and three memory buttons. The small footprint also saves some space on a small bench.
Hi! First of all, thank you Franky for the fantastic service! :-+
I recently bought some of these grippers:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171002587855?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&var=470238327263&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.com/itm/171002587855?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&var=470238327263&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)
I'm having a bit of trouble soldering 14 awg silicone wire to them. When I have soldered the wire to the hook it's not possible to put the cap back on. It feels like the wire and joint simply isn't flexible enough to make it work. Any tips or should I just go for a higher gauge wire? :-//
Convenience. It's what I have laying around and use for most of my other test leads. The ebay listing states that you can use down to 13 awg btw.Hi! First of all, thank you Franky for the fantastic service! :-+

I wouldn't ask of you to offer it for free. If you have any 16 AWG in blue, green and yellow, I'd like to buy a meter of each color however (+red and black).
Fast shipping and excellent packaging! :-DMM :-+
All my 9V batteries are flat :palm:.
Are you going to have any more of those Brymen silicone multimeter leads? I would like a to buy those, but the ebay listing indicates they are out of stock :(
Thanks for the info. Now I know what I will buy myself for christmas ;DAre you going to have any more of those Brymen silicone multimeter leads? I would like a to buy those, but the ebay listing indicates they are out of stock :(
Yes, I will have them back. But the expected date of the next shipment from Brymen is still a couple of weeks away, around 24th Nov. I will also have the BM-257s and BM-869s ("s" versions) back in stock by the time.

Franky, Have you noticed any considerable differences between BM869 and BM869s ?
Have been lurking on here for a couple of weeks and I had to make an account just to say that I am astounded at how fast you delivered the BM257 I ordered! Less than three business days is very impressive.
Have only had a preliminary look over the unit and I am very happy with the build quality, hope to have a hobbyist review on my blog in the near future.
Cheers!
Hi Franky, a 400mA fuse on the 257s sounds strange since the meter jack is still marked as 0.6A max on the front panel. I would ask Brymen for some clarification, as they may have installed the wrong fuses on a batch of their meters.
That 0.4A/1000V fuse has a Time-Current characteristic curve (in between
315mA & 500mA) projection of approaching infinity at 0.6A. It can also be
loaded way beyond 1000 seconds at 0.8A, and has a fast acting characteristic
of below 0.01 second at beyond 2A. This protection characteristic matches
BM257s nicely.
Hey Franky,
I got redirected to this thread by fellas in the forum who had only the best to talk about you :).
Anyway, I'd be glad if you could source a Hakko 888 (Not the Digital version), used or new, 110V or 230V version. Any possibilities?
Cheers!!
I noticed you've added a ZYXStudio USB power meter to your ebay shop. Can you get their other stuff too? How about test loads from http://zke2006.taobao.com? (http://zke2006.taobao.com?)

Yes, I can if needed. I have actually ordered one of their latest products for myself. It's a battery internal resistance tester which also measures inductance and capacitance, as well as ripple voltage of a DC source.
As for the ZKE loads I do have a few of these at the moment: http://mjlorton.com/forum/index.php?topic=468.0 (http://mjlorton.com/forum/index.php?topic=468.0) They are an older version and only support up to 6V though. If you're interested in their other products I can get them too at a reasonable margin.
Great! I have a bunch of older batteries I want to test for a project. I was going to build my own charge/discharge equipment, but that's going to take me a while, and so I've been eyeing an affordable way to have a few cells cycling at once. It looks like a few EBC-B10s might be the way to go.
It looks to me like ZYX has a few resistance testers. Did you get the latest model? Interested in hearing your impressions.
Have a look at this Franky, you may want some in your store.

I'm looking to buy 2 used Fluke dmm's. (1) Fluke 27/FM or 27 TRMS for <$45, &/or (2) Fluke dmm's: 85 III, 87 V dmm's for <$65ea - in good fully function cond w/o major cosmetic problems. Adhesive, grime, dust, no battery, or leads OK.You realize Franky, who is based in Hong Kong, only sells new stuff that he can get from suppliers in China/Hong Kong/Taiwan.
Franky,
If you can help with these below purchases I'd be grateful.

Heat shrink tubing small variety pk. of most used smaller sizes for electronics, thanks.
A new DMM you'd recommend if I decide to go new? Latest UN-T UT61E w/input protection fixes, etc. or?Budget?

The problem I see with that color assortment is that each size only comes in one color. What if you need different color coding on several wires of the same size? And those larger sizes are close to useless for most people. Still, the price is not bad.Good point, as I wasn't digging that deep (was mainly looking to demonstrate there is better value for the money). :-[
rdl, nanofrogThe UT61E could serve you well, but do be aware it has drift issues (take a look at the UT61E drift and recalibration (http://) thread; didn't notice anything indicating this has been fixed).
Thanks for the good advice. Yes gen'l purpose hobbyist dmm use. Latest current UNI-T UT61E w/upgraded input prot. & other fixes not good enough still? 1/3 the cost. Por investment?
Thanks guys.
Thanks nanofrog.Regarding your solder, acid core flux is NOT meant for electronics, so you need to stop using it. :o You want a rosin based flux or a no-clean formulation. I'd also recommend skipping on the water soluble flux formulations as well (it's meant for electronics, but must be cleaned off as it will cause corrosion rather rapidly if you don't).
I can spend what's needed for something in a budget best buy situation. I'm on a shoestring play $ budget. I've got abt. $250 currently & whatever profits I can make on the vintage tools I'm trying to sell on ebay, etsy, craigslist, & amazon to set up my hobbyist lab with. I need test equip. I have a mini bread board kit as my 1st project after I get a meter or 2 & desire those with features good for electronics - continuity, capacitance, frequency, etc. & for house load checking purposes.

Thanks nanofrog.EX330 is $50ish at Fry's (won one of daves sub-$100 shootouts). Nice because of the built in freq counter, but also does duty cycle on the frequency range which is a nice bonus. As for the second, buy a cheapie that you wont feel guilty about if you blow it up. Yes two is nice, but they both don't have to be nice meters...

Hope this answers the questions you were looking for?
Appreciate it.
My recommendations:
Good soldering iron, (proper temp controlled), and despite what Dave says the older bit-assigned temperature Wellers are good if you find one used for cheap, mine is circa 1970 (W-TCP-L) and going strong. Otherwise just buy a Hakko
a GOOD solder sucker (not the $5 blue plastic cheapie),
good flush cutters,
a power supply that can give you 5v and 12v to start
Suction cup Panavise and/or really small bench vise
As an old fart, some reading glasses really help, along with a big magnifying
THANKS, HAVEN'T USED IT YET SO WON'T.Regarding consumables, stick to name brand supplies (brands such as Kester, Multicore, American Iron & Metals <AIM>, Indium, Alpha Metals/Cookson, MG Chemicals, Chemtronics, and Techspray for example). You'll save yourself both a lot of time, aggravation, and money in the long run. Including the financial implications of damaging what you're working on (parts & PCB's).
TUBE TABLE RADIOS, VTG TEST EQUIP. - ALL THE STUFF I NEED, I.E., MMs, PSUs, OSCILLOSCOPEs, SOLDERING/DESOLDERING STA & OVEN, MAYBE HANDHELD CALCULATORS within the $250 budgetNot really feasible I'm afraid, especially if you expect any quality at all. :o :(
Will you use it on mains voltages? YES (appears to be the case, but would like to be sure; if you mean to test AC current, you may need an AC current clamp accessory or separate clamp meter):-// I HAVE AN UNTESTED VINTAGE AMPROBE JR MODEL Y500Given the usage listed, I'd recommend starting with a BM257, and going from there. The Digitek previously linked would be an inexpensive second meter (just be aware of the voltages you're working with and the meter's ratings).
GOOD VALUES? 820a =$100, KLEIN MM5000 $100 EBAY THANKS MUCH!The Greenlee 820A, Yes if you can get it for $100 to your door (rebranded BM827 (http://www.tme.eu/en/details/bm827/portable-digital-multimeters/brymen/#) IIRC, which goes for $119.17 @ tme.eu + shipping; BTW, this has higher counts than the BM257 for example, but check the features to see if this is a better choice; cheapest I'm seeing the 820A is ~$136, which is on par with the BM257s from our member Franky, aka iloveelectronics, that sells on eBay <linked BM257 is his store>).
Franky,
I recently started looking for a pocket multimeter and the Brymen BM27s was suggested by Lightages (Who always has good suggestions!)
I see they have a silicon cover and pouch available.
If you are able to source these could you give me a price with shipping to NZ please? I'm almost tempted to buy two, but I'm not sure yet.
Franky, what would it cost to get this ZKE battery tester shipped to the US?: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1-c.w4004-5233003088.3.Bjpmcf&id=40566539149 (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1-c.w4004-5233003088.3.Bjpmcf&id=40566539149)

@Franky
between Digitek DT-2843R and UNI-T UT61e which one is good buy??which one you will recommend?
i am on a tight budget so cant afford a 100$ multimeter.

I'm not sure how heavy it weighs so can't quote the exact shipping cost. The unit plus all the accessories would be about $45. I estimate that it may weigh about 500-600g in shipping weight, which would cost roughly $10.
FRANKY,
Would you know if the 250v fuses in the Uni-T Ut71b can be upgraded to 600v w/o socket changes?
FRANKY,
Would you know if the 250v fuses in the Uni-T Ut71b can be upgraded to 600v w/o socket changes?
Fellow forum membe Wytnucls might be able to help you on this question as I don't have a UT71B myself so am not sure about the dimensions of the fuses and their holders. If they are the 6x32mm type you should be able to find ceramic ones rated at 600V. Beware that just by upgrading the fuses will not automatically make the meter conform to its claimed CAT rating, there's more to its input protection which may need upgrading/modifying as well.
I've got 4 of these used Agilent N2890A 500MHz probes for sale at the moment. $42 per probe, or $82 per pair, including worldwide shipping with a tracking number.
All 4 are in very similar physical condition. No other accessories included besides what you see in the picture. As far as I can tell they are all in good working order.
Please PM me your Paypal details if interested.
franky would you consider selling DER EE DE5000 and sell it for a reasonable price range?
Just in case you haven't seen it, Martin has reviewed these in one of his recent videos: http://youtu.be/kYQz88ZclRA (http://youtu.be/kYQz88ZclRA)
They are back in stock in my eBay store: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-0-Power-Monitor-YZXstudio-Voltage-Current-Meter-High-Resolution-OLED-/171606912751 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-0-Power-Monitor-YZXstudio-Voltage-Current-Meter-High-Resolution-OLED-/171606912751)
The latest batch is blue instead of the yellow shown in Martin's review, with firmware version 2.1 installed on it (2.0 in the video), and recently received a shunt resistor upgrade with a Vishay Dale resistor which improves temperature stability quite remarkably.
If any of you already ordered through my eBay store before 10th Jan, 2015, I would be happy to send you the new shunt resistor for $1 to cover postage and material costs. Please make sure you have reasonably accurate 5V and 2A sources before you attempt to upgrade though as you will need to recalibrate the device after changing the resistor.
@Franky
do you have UT71D multimeter for sale ? i cant find it on your ebay store.
if so how much does it cost?
Hi Franky
I tried to email but it would not connect.
HI
WTB
Interested in a DT2843R But a video I saw shows the continuity tester as being a bit slow is this really so? If it is only half a second or so then I cannot see it as a problem for me.Also interested in the UT71 if I can afford it?
THANKS
Thanks for the reply,I will order a 2843 This Afternoon ,I really need Capacitance facility .Also are you able to export a box of ten for some students (Family really but I was a bit embarrassed) in about a months time?,No discount required.
THANKS
HiThe DT4000ZC will let you measure a 15nF cap. The lowest range is 40nF with 0.01nF resolution (although measurements below 1nF are getting rather inaccurate,) a 15nF cap falls well within that. The upper limit is 100uF.
Sorry it's only me again. Iam getting my son to order my DT2843 this week end and would like to ask a question.I have some 15nf caps to measure ,will either this or the 4000 I have ordered measure a cap this low? The spec shows 40nf ,is this up to 40nf or over.
Does anyone know if the Uni-T UT61E is shipping to the USA with input protection, etc. fixes yet?
Hi Franky,
Are you going to have the Brymen test leads back in stock anytime soon?
Any suggestions?A possible candidate might be a Fluke 27? Dave did a review/teardown
I need to get a multimeter for my business partner to test our equipment when I'm not around. Some features I'm looking for:
- Better than average environmental sealing it will be used near the water sometimes.
- Easy to use. He's a biologist.
- Will be used to test battery voltage, conductivity, continuity, and sometimes sensors (mV). No AC usage expected other than TTL level signals.
- Min-Max would be nice.
- Back Light is nice.
- I would prefer AA batteries rather than 9v
- Under $100 shipped to the US.
- I've always been a sucker for dual display (I use a Fluke 289), but probably not at this price point.
Any suggestions? I was considering the (obvious choices) UT61E and the DT-2943R. Perhaps the BM257?
Hey Franky - do you still have the kelvin clip kit available?
Hi Franky,
Do you happen to have any silicone leads with unshrouded stackable banana plugs? (unshrouded on at least one side).
I currently have a bunch of these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Silicone-Leads-with-Stackable-Shrouded-Gold-Plated-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-/171008906695) laying around here, which I really like. But unfortunately my new Rigol DP832 has binding posts that don't fit shrouded plugs..
Yes, I will have something with stackable unshrouded banana plugs very soon available from my eBay store. Hopefully they will be available early next week.Any news on these? ::)
I just purchased this: http://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/test-lead-connector-kits/7872843/ (http://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/test-lead-connector-kits/7872843/)Hircshmann is awesome, but I don't need 10 of them and already have a holder (and a set of 4 shrouded Hircshmann's :o ).

Got them today. They look and feel great. Will give them a proper test tomorrow.
Pretty sweet delivery time Franky :-+
Glad to know they arrived swiftly and safely. Can't take credit for the delivery time though. The post office in the Nethderlands seems to be having a very efficient week as many of my Dutch customers have commented about speedy delivery lately! I hope they keep this up!
I did my first order with Franky on Sunday 17 May, the items arrived here in Blighty this morning, 21 May. Impressive!
Frankie, what discounts can you do on the red YZXstudio power meter? Any mercy for a cheapskate?

Well frankly in the world of under-2-pounds multimeter (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/world%27s-cheapest-multimeter-teardown/) (shipping and battery included) a multi-tens-of-dollars tester like this is a luxury item :-)

...but I try to differentiate by offering an exclusive English manual...
I've got this customer returned BM257S which had a faulty current range, but have since been sent to Brymen and fixed. First $50 takes it. Worldwide shipping (with tracking number) included.
According to youtube video the Yellow and the Red USB 3.0 Power Monitor are different.
According to eBay descriptions:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171657443908 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/171657443908) and http://www.ebay.com/itm/171606912751 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/171606912751)
the firmware is the same...
Are there real differences between the yellow and red units?
. TIA

Hi Franky,
Just received some test leads from an eBay sale. Thanks very much, very happy with the quality.
Hey Franky, any update on finding some decent Kelvin leads? Now that I have a better quality meter (I traded some stuff I had laying around for a 34401A) I am looking a bit more intently. Cheers mate!
OK, here's what I've got. It's a kit, so you will need to do some soldering and heat shrinking. Which may be more work, but you get to control the quality of the soldering and assembly work. You can also customise the length of the wires.
Price on the forum would be $19 per set worldwide shipping included (without tracking). Tracking would be an additional $2.4.
I'm chasing some of the yzx studio usb meters but can only see the red lcd one on your eBay store. Are you currently out of stock on the other ones or are they discontinued?
This item is out of stock.
UPDATES:
2015-09-24 - New firmware version v2.7 available. See the description below for new features in v2.7. Previous customers interested in the upgrade can contact me for the firmware file and upgrade procedure (will require a ST-Link V2 compatible programmer). The device, however, has been sold out and will remain unavailable for a while, due to a supply shortage of the OLED display modules.
I can't see any items not in stock from my phone which is why I asked. I go to his eBay store and there is only the red one with the lcd hence my question in the first place. No yellow, red oled or black one showing at all.

Thanks franky,
I put through a order for the red lcd one and some silicon alligator clip test leads last night. I'll be needing more gear in a little bit so I'll message you with what I'm needing.
-Chris
There will soon be a Green version, which is the LCD equivalent of the Black one in terms of specs, except that it uses the same 3-PCB construction instead of the black plastic case. I was told the there would also be a Yellow equivalent with LCD later. YZXstudio is releasing all these LCD versions now mainly because of the shortage of the OLED display supply. The LCD versions do have a few advantages over the OLED counterparts though such as bigger size, much longer lifespan, better outdoor visibility and lower cost.Wow, a green one. So if I get a green one with the red one I'll have Christmas colors on my bench. :)
They sounds dangerous :D
Any plan for Banana to BNC adaptors or BNC to Banana and other adaptors?
Franky, why arent these available in mixed colours ?. your sale only allows us to choose one or the other.

Without wishing to steal Franky's thunder, there is what I assume to be a pricing error on the UK RS website, not sure if you can get them to ship to you. I bought three sets a month or so ago.

They were out of stock when I purchased them, I had to wait a couple of weeks, I was charged the sticker price. I only bought three of them to get it to the 20 quid minimum order for free shipping.
I just got this email about those items. Looks like RS are trying to ditch the price
now £56.14
On the listing page yes, but if you add it to your basket it shows you will be charged the full price. :(Quotenow £56.14
Still showing £7.48 for me, OOS but on backorder. With free shipping.

Me to, he's not in any videos. I think this will be the second YouTube video he in recorded by someone else.
Can't wait to watch that one.
Scott, even though I've had a nice TekPower 3710A DC electronic load on my bench for quite some time, your video review of the YZXStudio ZL1000 two weeks ago prompted me to fire off a note to Franky to order one. Thanks for bringing this inexpensive, pocket-sized constant current DC load to my attention, it works quite nicely.

Your welcome, I'm glad it's working good for you. I ended up buying one also for a gift and that's the one I changed the potentiometer on today.
I just looked up the TekPower, nice unit but a little out of my cost for now. I'm slowly building up the lab over the last year. Maybe I'll search for a used one next year. For now the next thing on my list is a function generation, I've been doing my research for a good used one or a cheap DDS that maybe I can mod to make better. But that's a different thread I will start to get suggestions under test equipment.

The Tekpower load is a rebadged Array 3710A also sold by Circuit Specialists. That being said, the Maynuo and Applent loads look to be a bit better quality.

Your wish will be granted.
Just shot a video with Franky about Hong Hong, ebay etc
But won't be uploaded till after he gets back after xmas.
Not sure whether to put the video on the primary or secondary channel?
Some interesting chat about Hong Kong, ebay, selling etc, but it's not exactly a universally appealing Jack Ganssle chat.
15min worth.

Primary - he deserves as much publicity as he can get.
Thanks for the compliments everyone! It was great hanging out with Dave and we (my family and I) really appreciate him spending the time with us with his very busy schedule. Wasn't expecting to be on camera but what's done is done now and I hope I didn't embarrass myself too much :D I am not really sure I'm worthy of the primary channel though to be honest as I'm just a seller or at best a hobbyist but nothing remotely close to an engineer and we didn't talk about anything technical.
When are we going to hear your interview Sean?
Have you at all seen any of the reviews of his stuff?, everything I have bought so far, is of good quality, testleads, probes, powermeters, powersupply etc.. not bad crap like you find everywhere on ebay.
Just wanted to post a quick note to let everyone know that I have returned home and re-opened my eBay store on Saturday. Was a bit overwhelmed by orders pouring in over the weekend so there are already a few items that have gone out of stock since. I'll try to restock as soon as I can but it may take some time as the new year break is just around the corner.
A few sets of the Kelvin clips are also on their way so for those interested please watch this space.
Hope everyone had a good holiday break and wishing you a great 2016!
Hey frankie, have you looked into differential probes?
Pintek for example, any idea on Minimum order qty etc?
Hi Franky, a quick question, which of the two "Carrying Case / Bag" for multimeter fit nicely with the Brymen 257s?
Between: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Synthetic-Leather-Zipper-Carrying-Case-for-Multimeters-Fits-Fluke-Brymen-BM-869-/200943447135?hash=item2ec929ac5f:g:xQ8AAOxyWalR467D (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Synthetic-Leather-Zipper-Carrying-Case-for-Multimeters-Fits-Fluke-Brymen-BM-869-/200943447135?hash=item2ec929ac5f:g:xQ8AAOxyWalR467D)
and: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Double-Layer-Zipper-Carrying-Case-Bag-for-Multimeters-Fits-UT61E-Fluke-87V-/171047385726?hash=item27d337fa7e:g:TtoAAOxyicJSFaGo (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Double-Layer-Zipper-Carrying-Case-Bag-for-Multimeters-Fits-UT61E-Fluke-87V-/171047385726?hash=item27d337fa7e:g:TtoAAOxyicJSFaGo)
The "Double Layer Zipper Carrying Case" seems nice to fit the meter and some accessories, but I'm not sure how the small 257s will fit inside :D
Thanks :)
Franky,
Can a blue colored cable be added to this set?
50cm / 20" Silicone Test Leads with Banana Plugs (1 Pair Yellow + Green)
Thanks...
great, I will need two sets and please let me know what I need to do next.
Thank You,
Nicholas
I would choose the double layer one, it will fit nicely. The other one is a bit too large for the 257.
One thing, I just saw that the Brymen "golden probe" you sell come with a banana adaptor, I didn't get any with my BM257s, is there is any way to order them, because it's quite handy in fact to have banana able probe sometimes. If it's not possible, no worries, I still have some banana to banana cable, they work a treat :)
Just saw them in you shop and added in my basket \o/

Make sure your existing probes have the machined threads though, or they won't attach.
Make sure your existing probes have the machined threads though, or they won't attach.
Good point, will check that tomorrow :)
The Green one has a couple of scratches on the LCD display but otherwise functions correctly.
The Red one reads the temperature 10+ degrees lower than it should be. The relative reading seems fine (still go up and down normally), but it's just the absolute value that's off. The temperature reading on these devices is always just a for-reference-only kind of thing and is not supposed to be super accurate but this one is just off by too much. Everything else works fine.
So I should consider myself lucky, I have the silicon one with threaded golden tip ;)
Make sure your existing probes have the machined threads though, or they won't attach.

Yes, Brymen makes a few different types of probes. There's a non-silicone type which also has gold plated tips but does not have the threading. They otherwise look almost identical to the silicone ones.
Hi Franky, one quick question about eBay, I don't really understand, if I want the "standard international shipping" even using a basket, I can't select on the basket itself but for each goods, and I don't think that adding $2.4 for each (my basket have 4 items) is worse adding for each. Please tell me, I suspect that Standard is a bit quicker (even if I never had any speed problem when you send me stuffs in the past)
What is your recommandation? (as I want the tracking number)
(and as you may send in multiple packet as at least two things are bit, I have in my basket the bnc 2 bnc cable, the Digitek DT-4000P-2, the double layer bag for my brymen, and the golden banana addon for my brymen probe tip)
Should I select Standard for the two "big" items?
I finally have a few sets of the Kelvin clips fellow member PedroDaGr8 reviewed in another thread available: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/franky's-kelvin-clip-kit/ (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/franky's-kelvin-clip-kit/)
The kit set comes similar to my previous Kelvin clip kit: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/buysellwanted/franky's-sales-thread/msg490252/#msg490252 (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/buysellwanted/franky's-sales-thread/msg490252/#msg490252) , except that it now comes with 14AWG wires instead of 13AWG, and of course with the new Kelvin clips. I only have a couple pairs of the shrouded banana plugs though so first come first serve.
Pricing is $18 for the Kelvin clips alone, or $24 for the kit set, including worldwide shipping, without tracking (please let me know if you do want a tracking number, which will cost an extra $2.5). If you're interested, please PM me your Paypal email address, shipping address, and your preference regarding the banana plugs. Thanks!
I got another LCD Green power monitor that has a minor defect - a line of missing horizontal pixels on the LCD display:
Hey Franky, you have an error in your wire description. For your silicone coated copper wire. it appears you are off by roughly 2AWG per size for the rated resistance (not really but that is my best guess). I was measuring the resistance of the various cables I made and was getting a resistance of 8.694Ohm/km and this includes the banana plugs; 14AWG solid copper is listed at 8.450ohm/km. Your ebay page lists the wire as 15.6ohms/km (which is close to the 13.4ohms/km for 16AWG wire I guess). A similar trend is visible for 16 and 18 AWG as well.

I got the data from my supplier. Perhaps they are playing it safe and under-spec'ing them, I'm not sure. Maybe I'll add a note to indicate that users have reported lower resistance values. Thanks for the info!
Yow can celebrate this moment with lower priceIf you want even lower prices. Get some supplies from one of the 1000 One Hung Lo's @ eBay and safe yourself some pennies :o
On another note, what is the power meter plugged into at the top of this page (the green one with a line missing) I really like the yzx studio stuff. I saw a resistance meter with their logo on it a while back but not been able to don't anything since. Have you come across these?
Hi Franky,
I would like to know if you sell safety adapters as well.
I was looking for some safety adapters (BNC to 4mm bananas) such as the Multi-Contact 67.9800-100 and 67.9537-21 or equivalent.
Maybe this kind of adapters can be a nice addition to the probes you are selling.
Thank you.
Hi franky,
I meant what is it plugged into (the actual usb socket on the left) looks like a power supply or usb battery brick. I bought one of the red power meters off you a little while back and use it a lot at work.
I would be interested in one of the miliohm meters, understandable about the battery needing to be removed for shipping. I can solder a new one in here if I know what sort (dimensions, capacity and voltage) if you can let me know once you get back from your non eBay trip that would be appreciated.

What's the story with the LiIon batteries, is it some local regulation or too many parcels are confiscated at destination?
I'm trying to understand the general situation, all my orders that did not arrive had (not small) LiIon batteries inside (but other similar items with the same batteries arrived); I assume many sellers will sell without knowing or caring about anything. I've got refunds each time but I'd like to understand how this works so I can avoid the hassle.
Hi Franky,
I am interested in a Kelvin Clip kit and a Red USB 3 power meter. Is there a wait list for the Kelvin Clip leads?

Hi Josh,
I will reserve a Kelvin kit for you. I'm out of stock for the Red USB 3 (OLED version) at the moment, but I'll see if I can restock as soon as I get back at the end of the week.
Franky,
Can you get piercing probes?

Yes, I can get those probes from my supplier too but I would not be able to compete in terms of pricing with the above link. I will have to price just the probes (without the leads) at not too far from their price with the leads :(
Ok, can you get them in different lengths too? Also, I do not care about price. The Quality is the most important to me with price the last thing I worry sbout. I know your reputation and I do expect to pay more for that quality.
I would like them with 1 meter leads (silicone) if possible or .5 meter leads are ok too. Need two sets. Perhaps one set at 1 meter and the other at .5 meters. Also, are the probes available in differenr lengths too?
Thank You,
Nicholas
I sent a PM but it doesn't show up in the My Message section, so not sure if it is working....You might have to enable 'Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default.' in the PM settings. :)

Sorry, was a bit busy with the weekend orders the last couple of days. All PM's now replied. I still have a few of those Kelvin clip kits in stock at the moment.

would u be able to source that? Not necessarily the real though, just the lead and connectors.
Thank you very much Franky. Just got my order delivered today after sitting in customs for 11 days :-// Next time can you ship DHL to USA?
Thank you very much Franky. Just got my order delivered today after sitting in customs for 11 days :-// Next time can you ship DHL to USA?
Going to cost you though, and customs will still hold it as well, plus you will get an invoice from DHL as well. USPS is generally faster for low cost stuff, break even on cost of courier is around the $200 mark.
Everyone I know that had ordered from Franky, including myself, had it take a week. Three days of which are usually sitting in customs or post customs clearance waiting to move again. Strange, I buy other items out of Hong Kong and they ship Hong Kong post and when it arrives here in USA (US Customs) it is then picked up by DHL in 3 to 4 days and delivered.

Sorry to hear it got stuck in customs for so long :( I don't know how post office packages would get picked up and delivered by DHL in the USA though. As far as I know everything I ship through HK Post is delivered by USPS, and if I send through DHL it's going to cost a real fortune.
There had been about a week when the USPS online tracking system was completely down and I wonder if that had anything to do with the package getting stuck.

YZXstudio has basically discontinued the OLED models now but I may have one very last one I reserved just in case. I will have to confirm on Tuesday though when I get back to the shop (it's a holiday weekend here in HK). I'll let you know.

Hi Franky,
Ever offer any banana plugs with leads like these on them? Male to male. I really like these connectors.

Hi Franky-
Do you have any Kelvin Clips for sale? Want to modify my DE-5000... thanks.
Franky,
Maybe you found some usb 3 power meters with oled screen?
Franky, in another thread there's discussion of hooks/grabbers for SMD work.
Same subject comes up from time to time and there might be an opportunity for you to supply some. ;)

Hi Franky
I am after some banana plug socket combined Binding posts Red, White, Blue, Black and Green. Maybe 12 of each. Can you get something suitable. Attached is a photo of similar ones.
Also 1 metre retractable ? shrouded banana plugs leads Red, White and Blue.
Some big and small (if you have them) crocodile clips the bananas can plug into. Red and Black. 4 of each so 16 in all. If you have something suitable.
They are going to be used at up to 400V rms and in student labs. so good quality.
Let me know what you can do
Hi Franky,
I notice that there is a seller who is selling Colour TFT Dual USB Power Monitor ZY1270 QC 3.0 at a lower price. I don't know why they can sell that cheap. Is there are difference between yours and the item from other sellers ?
Best Regards,
Timmy
Anybody heard of Franky recently ?Good question, I thought I had sent him an email a few weeks ago. But turns out it was sitting in my draft folder, well I sent it now.

Any members activity can be checked in their profile to see when they were last active.
Sorry about not being as active as I used to be. Haven't been able to spend nearly as much time as I want either on this forum or updating my eBay store in the last many months :( Priority is always given to making sure all orders are processed as quickly as I can, and providing customer support, but that leaves me with little time with all that has been going on in life at the same time. Things are starting to settle so hopefully I will be able to provide more updates soon.
I think I have replied to all inquiries directed my way but if I have missed anything please let me know.

How about two maybe four BNC male to mini grabbers Test Clips. Depending on price might have to buy two now and in December get the other two.
Hopefully, with silicone wire 1/2 meter in length with the mini grabbers 10cm in length. If possible one color for each in red, yellow, blue, green. The ground can remain black which is preferred.
Thank You,
Nicholas
If it's any help - I've used coloured heatshrink for identification. An inch along the grabber shaft - away from the grabber hook - and a larger diameter for the BNC end. If you can get some high shrink ration stuff, you can slip it over the BNC knurl and have it just behind.

The only BNC-to-minigrabber leads I can get from my supplier are like this: (http://i.imgur.com/Tr4orlHm.png)
The cable is standard RG58 coaxial about 1m in length, plus about 20cm of non-silicone wires connecting to the test clips. These are factory moulded products so the material/length/colour aren't really customisable unfortunately.
Can at least get the test clips longer? 10cm?

Are you referring to the test clip's size? Or the wire's length leading to the test clips? The red and black wires in the picture measure a bit >20cm.

The only other kind of test clips of a larger size I have are like this: (http://i.imgur.com/r2UpMNGl.jpg)
They are overall about 15cm long (10cm from tip to the handle, with the thinner part flexible for bending), and they connect to shrouded banana plugs, instead through a raw solder joint. There are BNC-shrouded banana plug leads available to connect these to.
length is perfect. Can I get them with a hook instead of a grabber as shown?

I'm afraid not...
Just received my pair of Brymen multimeter test leads :-+
I was more excited about the envelope they arrived in though, air-tight re-sealable paper envelope with metal foil laminate insert? (I suppose they would be quite water-resistant too)
Any idea where I could buy a pack of these envelopes? (10-20 pcs)

Well, I bought them from China directly. They seem to be available on Aliexpress as well but for larger quantities than you may need: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Kraft-Paper-Aluminum-Foil-Bag/1848571_502896120.html (https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Kraft-Paper-Aluminum-Foil-Bag/1848571_502896120.html) Perhaps there are other sellers with lower minimum order quantities. You can try some searches with similar keywords.
It's actually about time for me to re-stock some of these envelopes myself, so if you need 10-20 maybe I can sell you some. Let me know via PM.
Sure, add 10 pcs to your next order and I'll buy them from you. I'm sure I can find something else to buy from your store too, to combine shipping. Also, do you happen to have a replacement OLED for the YZXStudio USB 3.0 Power Monitor (yellow) you were selling some time back? Or even just a model number? Mine cracked in my pocket and the text on the back came off with the double-sided tape. (And why are there none of these in your store at the moment?)
These are neat. I think I may have to get a pair of these grabbers. The Length of the plastic test clip itself...

Hello Franky, when will the ZY1273 USB Power Monitor be available again?
Franky, do you have a source for the plastic lead bending tools/jig? Everywhere I see them they're 10-15$ for a lump of plastic, and I just can't bring myself....
I had a freebie from a magazine when I was a kid, and stupidly tossed it when I moved at some point.
While people are asking for stuff, are you planning to get the Brymen test leads back in?

Wow, I didn't realize these things were selling at $10-$15
I was going to recommend if you knkwmanyomemwith a 3D printer.
Then I was searching for them to see if I could find one cheaper then $10 and the one I found is someone 3D printing them and selling them on eBay for $6. The picture shows a fast 3D print, not the best looking but I guess it doesn't have to look that good to function.
I wonder why they sell for so much? Maybe not enough people buy them?

In the USA, Sparkfun has one for $4.80 https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13114 (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13114)Yup, the do. And $5.72 shipping for a strip of plastic for a total of $10.52 for standard domestic shipping.
I received a ZY1270 with Bluetooth module but I can't find the module with any BT device.
Do I need to activate the Bluetooth somehow? :-//
Link to dummy load would be nice lol
Hi franky,
I am interested in the new load. I have one of the older loads and a few of their power monitors I bought from you, but having it all in one would be great. Can you post some pics here too?
Once I see what it looks like I'll send you a Pm with a list of things I'm wanting from your eBay store.
Can you get multimeter cases larger than the one you have listed? I really like the double zip compartment to keep the leads in, but the dimensions don't look big enough for most of my meters.
Bit of a shame that it can't run from the socket being tested, but I'm sure they have a reason. Just means a power bank will need to be carried as well to power it when away from the bench.
What sort of price are you selling them for?
regarding you zy1270, I see that there are also some zy1271 and zy1273 floating around?, what is the newest of all these?
Hello Franky,
maybe you know what AWG size are Brymen's DMM test leads (cables), need to order some cables but have no idea what AWG size?
Best Regards,

There's actually a ZY1272 too. A brief summary of the new/different features on these models:
ZY1271 - large colour TFT display (same as ZY1270's), features USB type-C input and output ports, plus an micro-USB input port.
ZY1272 - same size as the ZY1266 but with a colour TFT display, automatically stops charging/discharging beyond a set current threshold
to prolong battery life.
ZY1273 - same size as the ZY1266 but with a colour TFT display, supports USB 3.0 and an input USB type-C port (but no micro-USB port).

Too many choices... I wanted to buy an newer one that supports the higher voltages and stuff, but it's always difficult to choose :), can't they make one universal model?
The 72, charge/discharge?, can you charge batteries with it now?

What about additional colours?
Those are shown as out of stock, and don't show up in either the store or eBay seller listings. Looks like they may no longer be available.

Thanks. I'm not too fussed about the other colours, I'd just like some visual difference when I'm using multiple leads in a test setup. Yellow+green would be a good choice, or blue+orange (or in some other combination of these colours)Those are shown as out of stock, and don't show up in either the store or eBay seller listings. I had been away for a couple of weeks and a lot of items are either out of stock or very low in stock. I'll need to re-stock a lot of them very soon. These should become available again next week. If you need other colours please let me know and I can order them as well from my supplier.
I just came as well to ask about different colors.
White and Dark Blue would be good colors. I'd be looking for 14 AWG unshrouded stackable Banana to sprung hook or just unshrouded regular banana plugs, preferably in the matching color. Happy to make my own from parts if you can source them but they're unassembled.
Hi Franky,
are you able to source end caps for BNC, UHF and SMA connectors?
The inner diameter is roundabout 6mm, 10mm and 15mm. The material is soft PVC or Vinyl.
Cheers
hammy
Frankie,
Do you still have/can you get the cp3205 style switch mode PSUs you had a couple of years back? What kind of price would they be as the aliexpress prices vary widely now...
Regards
Dave
Hello Franky,
a few weeks ago I bought from you this nice bag for my new DMM U1252B. Thank you. :)
Now I got this HV differential probe from Dave's shop (nice thing, btw :-) ) and I was wondering,
if you could offer a bag for that probe as well. The one you have for sale is a bit to small in length, 3 to 5 cm more would be really nice.
Any chance? Would prefer to buy from you. :)
Thanks,
Andreas

Franky, have you decided yet on whether you're going to carry any shrouded female banana sockets? I've bought some from other eBayers but the quality of the insulation isn't nearly as good as the stuff you carry.

The cable ends, I need them without wires attached.
This is what I have, they feel really cheap, specifically the strain relief.

These look like the ones I have :( I agree the strain relief isn't great (rather stiff), but I wouldn't call the material cheap (unless yours is different). They are used in some of the test leads I sell such as these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10cm-Silicone-Test-Leads-with-Sprung-Hooks-and-Female-Banana-Connectors-1-Pair-/201358533333 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/10cm-Silicone-Test-Leads-with-Sprung-Hooks-and-Female-Banana-Connectors-1-Pair-/201358533333)
I don't need it but SOLD, I'll take the other.
Franky - Do you calibrate and test the YZXstudio devices? TIA for the answer.
Franky, My understanding of the YZXstudio devices either isn't great, or what i'm looking for doesn't exist.
Can you confirm if any of the devices support the USB3.1 charging specification where charging using 5, 9 12 and 20 volts are supported?
Franky, I just bought some banana plugs from you on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4mm-32A-Rated-Stackable-Unshrouded-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-Red-Black/172588238483?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/4mm-32A-Rated-Stackable-Unshrouded-Banana-Plugs-1-Pair-Red-Black/172588238483?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649)
I can't believe I'm asking this, but I can't figure out how I'm supposed to attach the wire... I had assumed that the small hole near the middle was a solder point, but now I don't think so. It looks like the metal flange on the pin seats on a shoulder on the plastic body and there is no room for a wire. All I can figure is that you could solder the wire to the very back of the pin, after the flange - but it doesn't look like it was designed for that either? Can you advise please!
Thanks

Hi,
I own a ZL1100. The problem is that I thought it could be used to measure a USB device power consumption, however its only for testing power banks and power sources (no usb output). I would like to know which YZXstudio device is the best and latest (with the most features like USB 3.1 and most compatible with fast charging, etc...)
What are the differences between YZXstudio Series? ZY1276 vs ZY1273 vs ZY1272 vs ZY1271 vs ZY1270 vs ZY1266 vs ZY1265 vs ZY1263 vs ZY1262 vs ZY1252 vs ZY1231 vs ZY1230? Feel free to ignore the discontinued models (obsolete models or the ones that were retire due to the OLED screen availability issue).
Thanks.
A bit off topic, but.. can I pick your brains (on everyone's behalf, I guess) on what the chinglish for light pipes might be? Western distributor prices would be hilarious if they weren't insulting..

Is there any reason not to plug a ZY1270 into a computer USB port and plug devices into the meter, like a hard disk or a WLAN adapter?
PM sent :)
Seriously fast delivery, 5 days from China to Norway! That's real HK post, not the budget 2 month version most sellers use.

FWIW, the term to look for IME is ePacket delivery if you don't want to wait a month or more (for sellers in HK or mainland China). I only do the slow route* if there's a huge price discrepancy or there's no other option.Seriously fast delivery, 5 days from China to Norway! That's real HK post, not the budget 2 month version most sellers use.
Franky, are any of the meters still available?
The 906. I’ll email you.
I have a few of these from years ago sitting on the shelf: http://www.mjlorton.com/forum/index.php?topic=468.0 (http://www.mjlorton.com/forum/index.php?topic=468.0)
Basically a 0.1-2.5A, 0.1-6V constant current dummy load, with PC logging capability, ideal for quick and simple Li-ion battery capacity testing and graphing.
$12 per set including worldwide shipping with tracking number. Each set includes The device itself, a 18650 battery holder with 4-wire connection, and a TTL-USB cable. Please PM your PayPal email address if interested. Thanks!
Franky, what would be nice is a black and/or red grabber with a thin lead on it, say 20cm long, that terminates in a banana jack. This way you can plug them on the end of your primary leads. I would take a black and red set at a minimum.
thanks
Are they 2mm or 4mm. Think 2mm is for multimeter probes, and 4mm is banana jacks.
Pull the probe off an Agilent probe lead and you have a safety shielded banana plug (male). I would like a mini grabber to attach there so I can quickly hook it to an IC lead to measure voltage, constant hi/lo signals, etc.
Nice! I've been wanting some grabbers for a while. Do you have any plans to sell ones with banana plugs?
Yes, a female banana jack on one end would be cleaner. Do those press all the way onto the probe? I would prefer to not have the probe open for shorting.

I don't have one with the female banana jacks, but do have the following which plugs directly into any standard 2mm probe tips:

Each lead is about 25-30cm long (depending on how you measure), wires are 22AWG silicone ones, and the grabbers are gold plated.
These are not listed in my eBay store yet (one of a few new items that I'm planning to add soon). Price is $8.99 per pair shipped.
I would also like a couple of these if they are made available.
Hello Franky,
you are selling these nice little pure copper alligator clips (28mm): :-+
https://www.ebay.com/itm/171281675000 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/171281675000)
But there is only one pair left. :(
Will you re-stock them?
Thanks,
Andreas
Hi Franky,
I would like to ask you if is possible to source some straight test leads, same or near as Brymen quality.
( Recently I've tried UT-L16 but they sucks. Despite good looking, contact resistance is randomly changing in range 0.05R and 12K )
Nope. I would like to have pair like these - http://www.uni-trend.com/productsdetail_1738_1090_1090.html (http://www.uni-trend.com/productsdetail_1738_1090_1090.html)
- the straight one, so you can plug them into bench multimeter without blocking access to buttons or pointing downwards to bench - which happens when I use the Brymen one.
++1 for the probemaster quality.+2 on the probematers, even been thinking of ordering a second set recently.
shipping to France was some 15 EUR.

Just got an order from Frank's...Multimeter silicon wire and banana plugs. Jeebus it arrived quickly, 6 days from order to arrive. Now that's what I like. :-+
I did some research, suggestions were for 18AWG. Anyway the wire...its absolutely great! Soooo soft! But its too small a gauge for meter (IMHO), not to worry it won't go to waste. I get all confused in AWG and mm I wish the world would just convert to metric :palm:
I'll just order some more, probably 16 & 14 AWG. I need some PSU leads as well. Thumbs up to Franky. :-+
edit:
14AWG ordered!
I found some links to items and checked it out and it seems that your store doesn't ship to Sri Lanka.

Unfortunately that is correct. I've had rather bad experiences shipping to a few countries, and Sri Lanka is unfortunately one of those countries where package loss seems to happen way too often which led to refunds on top of lost inventory, so I decided to stop taking orders from these countries. Sorry.

Hello Franky, is the above true for Italy as well? I was looking at some of your products and was quite ineterested.
Cheers,
Franco
Hello Franky,
I'm looking for an adapter to use bannana plugs with my electronic load. In the attached picture you can see an example of such an adapter.
Is this something you can get and ship to Germany? Depending on the price I would buy up to 30 pieces.
Thank you!
Cheers
hammy
I had a quick search but couldn't seem to be able to find a source for these :( Where did you get yours from? Or was it a custom job?

Yes, it is. But unfortunately out of stock. :(
What a bummer, maybe it is time to do the layout by myself and let ALL-PCB produce them ...
Available on www.tindie.com (http://www.tindie.com) now:A few chaps with SDL1000X loads have got these knobs that take 4mm banana leads and screw onto 6mm binding posts:
