(SORRY, ALL GONE) free oscilloscopes for beginners
« on: October 01, 2017, 07:53:05 pm »
Greetings -

Even with Dave's instructive videos about how to find affordable used 'scopes through EBay and other sources, I know there are some folks who just haven't had much luck.  While purchasing another instrument, the seller gave me four Goldstar OS-9020A (2-Ch, 20MHz, analog) 'scopes just to get rid of them.  These are about as basic as they come, but they are in great shape and work as they should.  They have power cords but no probes.  I also have copies of the owner's manual that I can provide as well.  All of the 'scopes were from a local high school that was changing out their equipment.  They're old, but they're perfect to learn with.

If you have any questions or would like one, send me a PM.  If you want it shipped, you will need to pay for that... or if you're in the central Texas area, we could meet in person.

Please be patient as I only check the forums every few days.

If/when they're all gone, I'll delete the post or make a note at the top.

Thanks,
John

I second that; good on you for donating, rather than trying to make a couple quid.  They might not be worth much to you, but they will be to the next generation.

I don't need a scope (I've 2x ATM), but your willingness to donate is a huge...  :-+  :-+  :-+

FWIW, I'd be willing to meet regardless, as there aren't other members close to me AFIAK (I'm in North-Central Louisiana).  >:D It'd give me an opportunity to Geek-Out.  :o :-DD

I need one scope if you still have one. I live in Jordan and do not have a scope yet since there are no one selling proper scopes here, only shitty usb and portable ones!

I hope you could send me one, I guess I have to cover for shipping at least xD.

Best regards,

I would love one! I was just looking for one on eBay like Dave suggested and I saw your post. Let me know what you need. Also, how do I figure out what kind of probe is needed for this? Can I buy a generic oscilloscope probe?

Thanks!

Any generic oscilloscope probe will do. For example these for around $10 for a pair: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-pcs-new-P6060-60MHz-Oscilloscope-Clip-Probe-able-to-fit-for-Tektronix-HP-FREE/32395140341.html Remember that probes are consumables so if they go bad just buy new ones.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

This is a bit cheaper  :D : https://goo.gl/g8mnkj and its bandwith is "100MHz" :D ::)...but I don't know shipping times for the US or other countries.
