Title: [SOLD] FS(US): Hewlett Packard 3456A Multimeter DMM
Post by: Rax on December 29, 2025, 11:32:21 pm
This was repaired and fully restored, and adjusted as needed to be within calibration. The DCV calibration is based on my lab standards, validated by the US Cal Club (NIST traceable through the contribution of some members in this community).

After adjustments the unit was subjected to extended operation to ensure reliability and no drift.

Its feet are 3D printed.

I bought a stack of those to fix.......

It is a great unit, though, worth fixing. Good job.

One thing I learned by working on this one is the Bill West switches don't just need a thorough IPA cleaning and metal strip bending or whatnot. It may not be enough.

The controller receiving the keys actuation can go bad, and "scatter-register" ("11111" or "5555555"). The MC14068BCP can be replaced with a easily sourced CD4068B where pin 1 doesn't get used.
