FS (FREE + shipping) misc test and electronics gear
« on: September 25, 2019, 06:21:55 pm »
Time to make room in the basement for some other things.   ;)

Hexacon TC872 soldering iron control (variac?)
Schlumberger 1255 frequency counter (LED display)
dbx NX-40 compressor/expander module
Vidicraft Detailer NTSC video enhancer
Heathkit IB-5281 RLC bridge

The counter's power supply has apparently failed (it was working fine before then), but all the other items worked when last powered up.  No guarantees as to calibration!  I removed the Heath's batteries so they wouldn't leak all over the inside while in storage.

They're yours for the cost of packing and shipping (preferably USA, but I'll entertain offers from most anywhere).  I hate to recycle them, but that will be their ultimate fate if no one wants them.

I would be interested in the HEathkit, but I would guess that the shipping to germany makes it completely nonsensical?

Hi Greg, the Heathkit interests me a bit as well. I am in south Florida, roughly where are you?

I'm near Indianapolis.  Frankly, I'd have to look at local costs for regional vs. overseas shipping to be sure, but it's light enough that might not be too bad.  Let me see about getting an estimate today and I'll get back here with the details.

Based on some online shipping calculators, it looks like USPS shipping to Germany via the economy rate will be somewhere around US$50 IF I can get it in a box that fits their shipping limitations and still pack it acceptably.  Florida shipping will be in the $30 range with similar packing.

Now, if USPS is not acceptable, the prices go up sharply.   :(  To get precise rates I'll actually have to take the box down to our local shipping office and have them examine it.  For all I know, they may tack some kind of services cost on top of that; if either of you are still interested, I'll box it up and see if they'll give me an exact value before we commit to this.  It will need to be properly packed anyway, no matter where it's going.   ;)

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

Sorry, all, for my absence over the last couple of days.  Very busy weekend and out of town for part of it - so I haven't been online as much as usual.

I have offers on the counter, RLC bridge and dbx unit which I am working on to make sure the shipping and costs are acceptable to all, but they're not finalized yet.  I am taking these in the order which I was contacted, so if any of them fall through I will notify here and proceed with the next phase.  If you've contacted me privately I'll be responding in a few minutes.

OK, I'm still in the process of communicating with people and going down the list (first come, first served).  Just waiting for a few replies and should be sending stuff out in order as each deal concludes.

It's been quite a while, but I've been looking for a variac for a while and would gladly take it off your hands if still available
