So, y'all wanted to know what it's like to receive 7.5kg of SMD junk. Here's what I found on my doorstep today (sorry about the delay - dictionary.com toolbar screwed my PC):

Opening it up looked promising:

Spread a bunch of stuff out (that left pile is resistors):

And after that, this is what's left in the box:

It went on and on and on! Most of it seemed to be resistors of some form, but that's probably because the tapes get everywhere. I found two PTH tants, but the next biggy seems to be mosfets. Some LEDs (a few of big bad boys in there), connectors, weird switches, card rails/ejectors, even two packs of AA batteries

Slight snag is that a fair amount of stuff is in open packets. Rather, they were but aren't now, so there are a lot of unidentifiable 0402 specs of dust (but at least I know they're resistors!). Also, some chips which got loose and header for the cellar:

A puzzling issue is a large number of these:

Clearely, they are meant to fit a small project box, but they don't see to be anti-static and are too thin the have much in the way of substance. No idea what they're used for.
