SOLD (UK): CIF reflow ovens 190mm x 290mm capacity
« on: July 09, 2016, 03:19:00 pm »
I sold a load of these reflow ovens last year despite them being torn apart and described as 'Deadly dangerous', quite an amusing thread lurking on EEV somewhere about them! They were even more popular after the tear down was posted!

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/reviews/deadly-insane-design-(cif-ft-02-reflow-oven)-teardown-rant-safety-fix/

I've got another one that's been manufactured much more recently, maybe it's had some of the design shortcomings corrected but I can't be arsed tearing it apart to find out. Unless anybody asks before it's sold.

So... here's one for sale, unused and good as new (yeah right like that matters), in original box. Looks like UPS had fun drop testing the box but the contents survived just fine.

List price is crazy stupid, but does £400+VAT and shipping sound interesting to anybody? They are big and heavy so UK shipping £20, mainland EU countries £25 and eleswhere a lot more.

VAT invoice supplied, can supply zero rated to EU buyers with a valid VAT number etc etc

SOLD

They routed a slot on the top side on the "fixed" board. An idea by imbecile on par with that who designed this board in the first place. Tiny creepage between the pins still present on the top side (although cannot short to particularly GND) and the crap on the bottom side of the board still remains the same  :palm:. So on the "fixed" board distance between live and GND basilally increased from 0.3 mm to 0.6 mm.

Well, it sold quickly so I thought I'd have a little look inside before it gets shipped on Monday.

The engineers at CIF seem to have been very busy since last time Wraper looked inside... There a new SMD logic board! The SSR and all associated mains wiring is now completely off the board, just an output from the board to drive the opto of the SSR. There is a small relay on the board switching mains voltage to the fan, but that appears to have plenty of clearance round the tracks now.

It looks a lot better, not quite so deadly dangerous!

LOL, they placed external SSR in the same place I did, shall sue them for stealing ideas  :-DD. That SSR on the PCB certainly needed active cooling at that current too. At least they did the right thing and made that board cheaper too, parts on the old board were ridiculously expensive without any reason.

You made the World a safer place!

Some people who do that earn a Darwin award.

Glad this wasn't one of those cases.

I took the picture Wrapper posted in March 2015 from my board TopLoser sold to me

This (older) board (and the whole system) have never seen any kind of serious CE-certification and CIF knows that fact, regardless the signed paper which came with the Oven.

I then talked with their dealer in Austria (rs-components) about that and they were somehow shocked. Very intersting reaction from rs anyway...

So it seems CIF hat to be busy if they want to stay in that business and it seems that they did it better now.
