Stray Electron - do more homework! This one has a brand new VFD display, been recapped and fully tested. Feel free to buy cheap on EBay, never know what you will end up with.

I do buy cheap on Ebay :-)   And I certainly don't pay 3x what something is worth just because the seller claims that he "refurbished" it. Furthermore I dare say that anyone in this forum could replace capacitors and a VFD display and for far less than the additional $400 that you want for your meter.

If you think your meter is worth $599 plus shipping then list it on E-bay and find out and stop spamming this forum.

@stray electron - unclear why you are generally so negative and a nay sayer. I am a newer arrival to EEVBLOG and getting back into this as a hobby after a long hiatus. I had expectations for more positive experiences than the sewer of typical social media.

If you feel you can purchase a bad unit, find & add a new Keithley VFD, CAPS, test, and sell it at a much lower price - fine then go do it. If you don't like my price, you can always make an offer or just move on.  |O

Thank you all for looking and considering!

What is the hobby? Using EEVBlog as your shopfront?

I don't think anyone would have a problem if you were here to join in the electronics (and other!) discussions, projects, help, etc. But you're here just to sell on your stuff because Ebay wouldn't get you your desired price. That looks suspiciously like you think we're marks (whether or not that's actually the case) and no-one likes to be in that position.

As a newbie here, you should note these points (my emphasis):

If someone rocks up as a new user and tries to start selling stuff in any section they will get banned. Usually if an established member shows off something they are selling it will get moved to the buy/sell section.

Buying and selling is for established members only.

early poster trying to sell stuff, clearly against what rules we do have. If anyone wants to explain I am happy to listen.

Moderator Note: We seem to get many people sign up and only post stuff for sale. Often not even electronics related (and no PC hardware is not electronics related). This section is for the occasional sale of your personal stuff. If you have good reason to beleive that you need some leeway on this please contact us before posting a shower of posts as otherwise your posts will be removed and you will be banned without warning.

Hi everyone,

this section has become a spam pile so I would like to suggest a couple of rules (mods, maybe "sticky" this?)

...

With that in mind, what have you contributed here or, failing that, what do you intend to contribute here?

That was already pointed out to him before he posted this one. He seems not to care, other than it might affect his sale.

I do think Dave should seriously consider some sort of membership time frame and/or minimum number of posts before someone can list items for sale here. I have bought a fair amount of gear here, always with good results, but I am very careful about the history of the members I deal with. In my younger days I was not always as careful and learned to be skeptical the hard way, not here fortunately.

There is, informally. It depends on members notifying the moderators.

I'm happy that it is informal, since having explicit rules invites "constitutional" arguments. Such informality requires moderators have good taste and sense, which seems to be working here.

Oh, the OP has been banned, as per https://www.eevblog.com/forum/news/stop-the-bullying/msg5193462/#msg5193462

We have this on another forum.
The result hundreds questions to the mods why they can not open a topic in the for sale board.
And second, with the 50 post minimum we see 50 answers in random topics as " wow nice post", "good i like it" , "nice find" , "nice" etc etc. Completely useless
