FS: Electronic component lots (11 lbs each)
« on: September 17, 2022, 04:16:59 am »
I've been running an ebay store selling components for a few years now and have decided to get out of that side of things and reclaim some space on my shelves.  I've taken about 10k USD of listings down and added 40% or so more in stuff which had yet to be listed into a pool of 138 lbs, and then divided it into 12 portions of about 11.5 pounds each to sell in bulk.  Most parts are new old stock, often in distributor or manufacturer packaging, and most come in some quantity (sometimes full reels), but I've tried to randomize each lot so you're not getting the same kind of thing in one lot and not getting the same things as other lots.

Asking $75 plus shipping per lot

Well I've decided I want the space to be empty more than than $80 per lot, so I'll be decreasing it every so often until it all goes.  Currently $70 per lot.

I did?  People looking to get their hands on some parts to have things in reserve?  People looking to find a few things in a lot to sell them so they can have a heap of random things for free?  People who enjoy the 'treasure chest' moment of seeing what they got?

Was a bit of all of those for me, and judging by similar lots going up at auctions and be being substantially outbid, I don't think I'm the only one.  Even a pound of parts tends to be quite a bit, so you're going to find some things you can use, you are going to find some things that are worth something, and you're going to find some things that are interesting in the vast majority of bulk lots that are put up for sale, and if you hit the right combination of those, it at least made sense to me to buy.  It seems there are people out there that think similarly.

I would too :)
But i'm on the wrong side of the pond, and ebay's shipping quote is just too ridiculous.

I would buy, too.  Never tempt an electronics hoarder with random NOS parts.  ;D
Same problem, Romania/EU is on the other side of the pond.

DaJMasta, can you ship to EU directly, without Ebay?
If yes, how much would be the shipping cost?

When I was a child growing up in the 80's, this is how we started amassing parts to tinker with.

Just about all our electronic stores in Australia (Jaycar, Dick Smith, Sheridan etc) had 3kg or 5kg bags of miscellaneous electronic components, usually located in a bin close to the counter... sort of an impulse purchase.

Obviously they were trying to get rid of surplus or over-stocked items, but to a kid, it was treasure!

Unfortunately, ebay has consistently had the best shipping prices I've had access to for international shipping outside of shipping to a third party forwarder.  For a package this size, I don't think I could find an option much under $100 without a corporate account and a discount of some kind, before any tariffs, which sort of understandably kills the deal.  USPS is probably the least expensive most consistently outside of larger packages, and they're asking $100 to Germany and $130 to Romania.

Well, EBay quotes US $337.53 to the Netherlands, not exactly a bargain!  :-DD

Thank you for taking the time to search.
The shipping cost is a bummer, indeed.
