FS: GN Nettest CMA4000 with case and various accesories.
(1/1)
XOIIO:
Hello from Canada! I've been a fan of eevblog on youtube for several months now (not enough channels like that on youtube), so I finally decided to register on the forum. (you can tell he set it up lol, I love the humor in the guidelines.)
Anyways I was able to acquire something quite interesting, a piece of fiber optic testing equipment (or should I say kit to fit in? :P)
Anyways I am fairly torn between selling it and taking her apart, to see what goes on inside. I figure that first off I will try to sell it, so I am trying my luck on here, some local classifies, and eBay tomorrow when I take it to the ups depot and figure out the shipping methods and charges. Who knows, maybe some of you are interested in this sort of stuff.
Anyways, here is the stuff I wrote out for the add, I'll just copy and paste it but feel free to ask for any clarification or extra images.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this item. I have for sale one GN Nettest CMA 4000, with many accessories, and a waterproof/pressure proof case.
It includes the following.
Nettest CMA 4000
Two batteries
One Charger
water/shock proof case (as well as having pressure control) with GN nettest logo.
Three certificates of calibration, most recent being 12-12-2000
Various sets of paperwork, such as Understanding OTDRs, Fiber Optic Basics, and the GN Networks operators manual. Also has a quick start guide, and various sets of papers from Bell Canada and notes on many pages (nothing that seems it would be confidential information)
Many different fiber optic cables, some brand new in bag, in lengths of 3m, 5m, and 6m (as well as some that look longer).
Fiber optic connector cleaning reels, and fiber optic splicing accessories. (including rubber cable holders, isopropyl alcohol wipes, an SC-SC optical connector, and some pieces of plastic with a metal section in the middle. Also dry wipes, cleaning procedures and security gloves.)
A pair of Trinity technology safety glasses with protective case (view pictures for ratings)
A carry strap for the OTDR
Several other miscellaneous things which I do not know, but were with everything else.
Instead of linking all 15 images in (since I can't find a spoiler option) I'll leave you a link to a photobucket album with all of the images in it.

I'm asking 4,000 CAD for it (although ebay wants me to use USD) but am open to offers, that wouldn't include shipping however. If you actually do wish to purchase it, I'll do my best to do everything smoothly although I've never shipped a thing in my life, so it might take a bit to get sorted out. (I especially don't have a clue how shipping for big things like this goes, it's a big bulky case that weighs over 13 kilos, I don't know if it needs a box, or just zip ties through the lock holes or whatever. I'm sure the ups guys will have answers)

I'm going to give this a bump to see if anyone new is interested, and I'm open to offers since I need some cash.
If this doesn't work out, I'll probably to a teardown and record it but unfortunately I only have an olympus vg 120 or my iphone for a camera, so not fantastic quality either way. If I use the olympus I get more recording time but poor quality/focus/can't zoom in while recording. Iphone is much better but I'll need to take more breaks to copy the clips over, but I should at least have my tripod mount for it by then so I'll probably use that unless someone wants to buy me a camera :P I do hope to get a nice 1080p one like dave has someday.
