FS (EU) Zynq FPGA boards: Red Pitaya + Ultra96
« on: November 21, 2024, 05:22:20 pm »
Hi, I would like to put up for sale the following Zynq based SBCs.

1) Red Pitaya V1.1 (STEMlab 125-14)
- data acquisition SBC featuring 14-bit 125Msps ADCs and DACs, Zynq 7010 SoC, 512MB RAM, Gbit Ethernet
- the exact product number is RS Stock No.: 800-7403
- an old product page is still up here https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/oscilloscopes/8007403
- the current model name is STEMlab 125-14, it should be really the same
- specs:
  - old specs document https://docs.rs-online.com/3039/0900766b812dc396.pdf
  - current specs page https://redpitaya.readthedocs.io/en/latest/developerGuide/hardware/125-14/top.html#
  - both reference "Red_Pitaya_Schematics_v1.0.1.pdf"
- pretty open platform to run custom system images, I've only tried out the official image years ago and haven't really kept up
  - https://github.com/RedPitaya/RedPitaya
- some further interesting links
  - https://github.com/dspsandbox/FPGA-Notes-for-Scientists
  - https://tknopp.github.io/RedPitayaDAQServer/dev/index.html
  - https://pavel-demin.github.io/red-pitaya-notes/

I've used it just a few time for a few hours, it was stored in its packaging all these years.

Also included: power adapter, a plastic case, SD card.

Price: 100 EUR + shipping cost

2) 96Boards/Avnet Ultra96 V1
- SBC with a pretty capable Zynq UltraScale+ ZU3EG SoC and 2GB LPDDR4 RAM
  - ZU3EG: see page 6 https://docs.amd.com/v/u/en-US/ds891-zynq-ultrascale-plus-overview
- product pages for the board: https://www.96boards.org/documentation/consumer/ultra96/ultra96-v1/
  - but for some links have to use archive.org it seems
  - Hardware User’s Guide https://web.archive.org/web/20200605142736/http://zedboard.org/sites/default/files/documentations/Ultra96-HW-User-Guide-rev-1-0-V1_1.pdf
- note the product page on 96boards.org is for the newer V2 version of the board https://www.96boards.org/product/ultra96/
  - I'm selling the older V1 version
  - as far as I remember some of the differences from V1 to V2 are upgraded Wi-Fi, and that later V2 versions came with a heatsink? (That would have been very nice.)
- the book "Exploring Zynq MPSoC" is a great learning resource and reference: https://www.zynq-mpsoc-book.com/
- see also Vitis Libraries https://github.com/Xilinx/Vitis_Libraries

Again, I've used the board just for few hours really, just testing out a Linux installation. Honestly I thought I'd rather not push it with intensive usage before figuring out a nicer DIY cooling solution with a heatsink. I'd fit a heatsink on the chip/board with 3D printed brackets maybe, but at that time I didn't know about the cheap 3D printing services from those PCB shops.

Also included:
- a DIY power cable with the fitting plug to be able to get started
- SD card that came with the board
- Digilent JTAG-HS3 https://digilent.com/shop/jtag-hs3-programming-cable/ (costs around $50 new)
  - too bad the connector or the pinout doesn't match with the board, don't remember exactly, flying leads could work, and as I remember I bought the exact connectors to make an adapter PCB for a nice JTAG solution, I haven't looked those up before posting but will include them if wanted

Price: 100 EUR + shipping cost

Payment and shipping: payment in EUR via SEPA bank transfer. I'm in Hungary, generally I'd expect the cost of shipping to be around at least 20 EUR.

Thanks.
