@electronupdate, I've got a 60MHz scope so I'm not pushing the envelope on these probes.  Good video. I forget what the the pin is that comes out the end of the tek probe. Is that relevant to this test?

If I was doing something critical I would find a new set of probes based on what I've read here. I've also got a better understanding of the probe.  For a beginner it might actually be good advice to expect to pay more for a set of probes than a used beginner analog scope. 

For the sake of discussion what probes would be recommended for a used analog scope, say to 100MHz?
Most of the used scopes do not include probes.

Maybe all those missing probes are floating in the Pacific trash gyre.

Another probe comparison, I do not know if the cheapo probes are similar to the probes I got. I think it's a good comparison though. And if you don't feel like reading it the conclusion is that the cheap probes should be fine up ~150MHz.
