Radwell is a big surplus dealer that I've bought from before; they specialize in discontinued industrial items.  Otherwise no connection with them.

Good, that was a good price.  I would have snagged it but I already have a 10x

it would have fit, the newer ones look quite different. BUT: the working distance of this x10 lens is only 4 cm. This is OK to check coins or stamps but often not enough for working on a PCB (even if the PCB will fit, the soldering iron will then touch the lens all the time).
The 6x SLWD with 11 cm working distance is a dream. This is what anybody in electronics needs.

This is why used bigger xNN lenses are often damaged by bumping it on the target.
I agree, I never need more than x4 in my planet, so this x10 would be only TEA.

Yeah I did get it lol. Yeah I have the x4 compact and x6 (which I did get for similar pricing), so this will just add that last bit of magnification range, more for inspection though.

I did, the result was  ..... terrible! Very blurry with only a tiny (somewhat) sharp area in the middle and even this was distorted. Believe me, you will get eye cancer soon. It is nothing you can work with.
The original 6xSLWD has huge lenses (look how wide it is at the bottom compared to the top lens) and weights at least 3x more than a regular 6x lens.

Stupid me I found the manual of my old Mantis and sure enough:



the 10x is supported.... 

Interesting on the new Mantis they go up to x20

I can imagine that. I do not have time but in 2021 cool kids should

1) buy cheap 40mm (or more) lenses from china (they are soooo cheap)
2) use some SW to properly design it, for example https://3doptix.com/

with a 3D printer the limit would be just the sky.
