Resistors!
« on: November 04, 2012, 02:21:11 pm »
I am sick of digging through my unorganized pile of crap resistors, so will be placing a large order from Mouser of all the E12 series resistors from 10 - 1M and, since there is a large price break at quantity 200, I would like to order at least that many of each resistor.

However, I don't really need 200, so was wondering if anyone would be interested in splitting this with me?  I'll order 200 of each, split them (by weight...I'm not counting individually), bag them, and send them out.

I will be ordering 1/4W 1% Xicon 271 series metal film resistors.

I'm not looking to make any money here, so it would be 1/2 of my actual cost ($228 total, $114 for half) plus shipping to you.

You would get 100 of each of:

10, 12, 15, 22, 27, 33, 39, 47, 56, 68, 82,
100, 120, 150, 220, 270, 330, 390, 470, 560, 680, 820,
1k, 1k2, 1k5, 2k2, 2k7, 3k3, 3k9, 4k7, 5k6, 6k8, 8k2,
10k, 12k, 15k, 22k, 27k, 33k, 39k, 47k, 56k, 68k, 82k
100k, 120k, 150k, 220k, 270k, 330k, 390k, 470k, 560k, 680k, 820k,
1M

If there is interest in other values, I'm willing.

I would be careful buying cheap metal film resistors from ebay. In the past Chinese sellers have sold carbon film resistors with a blue coat of paint as metal film. Getting counterfeit components from big name distributors like Mouser is much less likely.

If you really have your heart set on it, and don't get any takers, you could try to package them in sets of 20 and sell them as a "full E series set" on eBay. I would think that they'll come on a tape, so separating them may not suck that much.

if you go the ebay route (to sell  them on )  : it is cheaper to buy a full box of each. ( ammopack box is 1000 pieces i believe )

now, do you really need all the values ?
1 2.2 3.3 4.7 is about all you need ... the intermediates .. rarely .

I have some of those resistors.  All I'll say is, you get what you pay for.

Last time I was in the need to restock my resistors, I ordered 2 of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Full-Range-Resistor-86x50pcs-4watt/dp/B00689SPV8

So far out of using a few hundred of them, only a few (3) have been bad/out-of-spec.

Appeared to be a good deal to me if you need the whole assortment.
