Rigol DS1054Z on sale $349 with options @ TEquipment & Saelig

The DS1054Z doesn't have a real-time clock like higher-grade scopes. So, the trials count down anytime the scope is powered on. It doesn't matter if you use the features or not.

They probably could've stored an accumulated runtime count based on a timer tick, but any extra work adds to the cost. Ah, well. Caveat emptor or use the riglol codegen.

I second that thank you. The explanation makes perfect sense. I plan to install the codegen hack shortly and I was also serious when thanked Rigol and TE for the great products and service to the community here (Incase anyone thought I was being sarcastic, I certainly was not). They have a great line of gear and it’s well worth the asking price.

I bought one for   $328 delivered at TEquipment on Black Friday with the code Evan Cirelli has shared  on page 2 (still active I think) and with free shipping in USA and the Rigol-official  software key that unlocks the serial decoding, triggering, etc. 4 options.   TEquipment has already emailed me the unlock code.   They are still $399 at Amazon and without the license upgrades.   Either way both these great sellers will get my future business so it is great to have both vendors so active in our forum.  Thanks!

You should be able to apply just the unlock code for 100MHz bandwidth to the scope, keeping all the other options you paid for.  I did that with mine.

The same deal applies for Bartonix for few weeks now.
You have to add the taxes for the batterfly deal. Then you have to pay ~400€ like all the time, but you get the official options.

Would it not be a better comparison with the Siglent 4ch scope? I know it is more expensive, but at least it would be apples to apples. Besides the price, having 4chs is what made the 1054Z king of the hill in the entry level scope market.

Not to forget, the Siglent features a newer chipset which makes stuff like remote SCPI command handling and the UI much faster and responsive. Even autosetup feels a lot faster.

Sorry, should have clarified it a more bit. I compared the scopes because they are in the same price field - even if they got other features.
4 channels is not mandatory for me, 2 are enough. I was interested in the overall quality, since the unlocks for the DS1054Z are free at the retailer I'm going to buy either scope,
that means no need for hacks, since it's coming installed already.

The other answers also helped me a lot, I'm going to buy the Siglent. Thanks guys.
