Looks like Amazon has the SDS1104X-U for 21% off right now.

A 3.5 digit 4.5 digit 5 digit 5.5 digit 6.5 digit 7.5 digit DMM is good enough for most people.

Why are you surprised? VAT is proportional to the purchase price. If you buy inside the EU, this VAT will be included in the price, but shipping should be cheaper.

If you post about a deal in Germany, would it make sense for Australian members to complain how expensive shipping from Germany to Australia is? Just search or wait for an offer from an EU store.

Free shipping to the USA.

Here in the UK an SDS1104X-U is £329 + 20% VAT.    The Amazon price is a good deal if you live somewhere that gets free shipping.

£329 + 20% VAT is only ~£66 and not €104.
This is a big difference that is not justified by the shipping costs.
At $315 (293€) the difference would be even bigger because there is a currency difference. In Germany, the import VAT is currently 19 and then there is round about 10% customs duty on top.

I saw that too and took the plunge for my first DSO. It just arrived this last Sunday.

I am very happy with it, other than finding out that the calibration expired in 2020 LOL.

Decided it was time to replace my tired TDS220 and thanks to this link, I took the plunge as well.

Unit arrived yesterday, returned it today after calling Amazon. Front panel (not screen) was stained with what looked like hard water spots that had dried. First probe tested was dead on both 1x and 10x. Third probe test was intermittent with slight manipulation of the cable exit on the probe body.

The box had not been resealed, had one layer of Siglent tape on it. So, this was either a factory refurb or beats me, just really bad luck.

First use and I discovered the serial decoder is limited to only 115.2kb but it appears to be a very useable, inexpensive scope.

Has anyone else experienced the quality issues I had? Still debating if I should reorder one and take a second chance.

When I bought my SDS1104X-E as a demo directly from Siglent, it arrived with one PP510 probe that also had intermittent signal issues during handling.  I assume it was just used a lot or roughly, they shipped me new probes.  I've not seen any defective new probes from Siglent and I've gotten 3 sets with various purchases.  It's hard to say what happened, perhaps it was reboxed?  Was the seller Siglent or Amazon? Maybe there's a reason they are having a sale? In any case, I'd just try again.  I think Amazon as the seller is no better than some random eBay dude (meaning you take your chances) except that you can always return without much hassle.

I believe it was direct from Siglent as the page says “The Siglent Store” in the Amazon listing but it says nothing (that I see) about reboxed/refurb/etc.

The probes did look like they had just been shoved into the pouches, no twisty things on them so maybe it was a rebox with no quality control. I dunno, it appeared to be a decent scope for the price and it seemed easier to use with the bottom soft keys rather than on the side as found on the Rigols.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Wow - that's unfortunate.

My SDS1104x-u has been pretty much 100%. All four probes tested out well, and I got the compensation adjusted without any issues. The screen is clear and clean.

The only problems I've had are software-related it seems - I have managed to lock up the scope a couple of times getting a bit greedy with scope bandwidth. I have also had trouble getting I2C decoding to work consistently, there is some voodoo involved that I have not fully decoded. Apart from those relatively small issues, I am very happy with this scope - It's a nice addition to my 100MHz Leader 2-channel analog beast.

Best of luck!
