Our brand is searching 20 enthusiastic product testers for our thermal imaging and night vision instruments! We always intended to be as powerful as Infiray, Seek Thermal and Flir.

Some no name Chinese instrument maker, oddly the website in their email is just an image with Chinese writing and pictures of equipment that is a link to another website. If they think they can compete with Flir, they have some road yet.

I'm a software developer with recent experience creating custom image processing software for ultra low-light MIPI cameras on Raspberry Pi, monocular and stereoscopic. Sadly it appears they only want USA based reviewers so it is unlikely that I will get to test and review these units. Over to you USA thermal imaging enthusiasts.

For anyone considering this: Cecilia PM'd me, asked for my email address, and then she sent an email describing the brand and the basic terms of their "cooperation program." The brand sells through several well-known marketplaces, so you can see what products they are currently selling. I decided not to participate, but others might be interested. Note: in her follow-up email, Cecilia cc'd (not bcc'd) several other potential participants, so be advised that your email address might not be private from other forum members.

Thank you for this update. I am interested to hear that the companies products are visible on well known marketplaces as I know the OEM behind most of the products seen on eBay, Aliexpress, Banggood etc  I have worked with some of them in the past.

I often receive approaches from startup Chinese companies whose sales staff read my forum posts and they ask me for technical advice. It often transpires that what they actually want/need is a cheap/free salesman/agent in a target country. I hope this is not the case here.

Having worked with Chinese start-ups in the past I know that, whilst they can make a product, marketing it in the west can prove challenging to them. They do not have the “in-place” market presence and distribution system to become visible to consumers. Some try to sell via eBay and Aliexpress etc but what they really want and need are sales people marketing their products to Western companies and potential sales partners. Selling into the West without sales partnerships is very challenging. I am willing to produce honest and accurate technical and user reviews of a product but I will not be used as a free salesman or “agent”. I truly hope that this is not the case with Cecilia’s company as I have first hand experience of how this works out for such companies….. in short, that marketing strategy fails.

@Fraser  with due respect,   you are not the one who should tell things or vouch for her,  this Cecilia person should do the talking and present things correctly,  and say right away  USA market   etc ...


We are not here to play or guess ...  presentations should be done better than that, if they are a starup as they say, they would not work in secrecy,  or something is fishy, cloned product  etc ...  or not rock solid  and they are afraid of something

And yes this markething strategy is a fail

This Reviewer request by Cecilia has proven to be a waste of time. I should have known better after my bad experience with Infiray. Back into the shadows I go. Lots of thermal cameras and electronics to repair ….. a much better use of my time.

While understandable to a point, all the mystery does raise an eyebrow which means if I were to be able to take this further, it would be with guarded interest.

Probably time to call it quits on this one, 50/50 it's a scam of some sort. Let's face it, the chinese rarely turn out to be honest in these sorts of things and the secrecy is a concern.
