I sold maybe 20 high-quality microscopes to watchmakers over the years (Nikon, Pentax, AO 580/570, etc) and this one is really one of the highest quality.

Don't let the prism attachment throw you.  Never saw one and it could be useful somewhere.

I hope someone here gets it.  Again, it is not mine.

Is the EMZ-TR the predecessor of the EMZ-5TR? tequipment.net shows the c-mount photo adapter as obsolete. I wonder what size image the adapter projects and if it is easy to remove and add the bottom, angle-viewer(?).

How would either microscope compare to a Nikon SMZ-2T?

Better.  Best of breed.  I do not know a better scope.  As long as you have the trinoc tube, you can get an adapter for your camera.  The only thing you will need to adjust is tube length if you want the camera parfocal with your eyepieces. Otherwise,  just adjust the focuser using the view thru the camera.

And I have bought from this seller.  He does take returns without any issues.

That prism looks intersting.  Ther HAS to be a good reason to have one.

I know very little about Meiji Techno stereo microscope, but from what I have read and hear, I would expect it to be a good, durable microscope. Best of breed and none better is probably pushing it. Zeiss would get my vote, if only their optics from that (presumed) era did not have a bad habit of delaminating.

I am sure that add-on is the bee's knees for some uses, but from the looks of it, it also consumes about half the working distance.

Looking at the e-bay listing images, that could be a -5TR without model or "Made in Japan" labels.

I can not see any eyepieces. Hmmm. Open tubes and dust?

I found an EMZ-TR on ebay without those labels and with a Grumman inventory tag. Grumman merged with Northrup in 1994.

REad the description: 10X Widefields.  EPs are often removed to show clarity of the body optics. YMMV

Usually, a seller will have at least one shot of the eyepieces in or next to the microscope, if they came in and/or were with it. The description makes me think eyepieces are added before shipment.

Two words, "clean optics" would be nice to read, or seeing some sharp, well-exposed photos of the lens surfaces. Looking at the objectives photos, I personally would ask the seller about the optics and optical performance, or an easy return policy: to reduce the chance of a NAD return and effort of documenting aspects that should have been in the description (the seller's job).

They are just saying what eyepiece type it uses, not that they are included. If its not in the photos, I'm 99% certain its not included.

The only tests done were "Tests performed: The fine focus adjustment knobs are functional and move smoothly The vertical and horizonal adjustment knobs are functional and turn freely Unit passes inspection"

That said it is listed as Used so if anything is wrong with the optics (alignment, scratches, mold) then you can return it.

Looks in the description to me.  Why not just contact them rather than all the speculation?

I contacted the seller and here's the response:

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Eyepieces are not included. We have ended this listing to revise and relist."

Most descriptions are just AI written or copy pasted, so I trust the photos more than the description.

Data???  This has not been my experience. Likely we shop differently (I am a bottom feeder). When in doubt, I simply ask the seller.  No response = no sale.

Sometimes, there is not time – especially if it is a buy it now item. Otherwise, I might write a little doubting is not wasted.

At the moment, there is a local pickup (Bavaria), buy it now Wild stereo microscope, listed on ebay.de, that could be interesting: if you do not mind low eye-point eyepieces and no picture of the objective. The objective is easy enough to change if you wish or have to.
