Thats a typical misunderstanding.
Centronics is not an alternative name of a printer connector, the printer connector is pin D-Sub Standard CENTRONICS type
(like SCSI, like GPIB and other like the Fluke 3330B digital control port).
That's also why centronicx type connectors are offered with different pin counts 14, 24, 36, 50)
