Wanted - CRT for a HP 85662A SPECTRUM ANALYZER RF DISPLAY
« on: January 19, 2025, 02:21:09 am »
I hear there might be a couple different CRTs this unit could be using. I have not opened it up to take a look for a HP part number but If anyone has a good working CRT for it I would be interested inn acquiring it. It has to have good brightness, The one I have you can barely see the display turned up full. I use a scope now on X,Y,Z to see the display but it is still not the same as a good working one.

I already looked into that. It is an option but, was going to see if I can acquire a decent CRT at a lower cost. I don't use the analyzer that much but it's nice to have when I do need it. right now it is useable with the external X,Z,Z outputs going to a Tektronix analog o'scope. Pretty useable that way but there are some artifacts in the display and an annoying like flickering in the display.

flickering could means   some caps to change ?     for the crt itself   you may have markings in the crt  due to long time use ?   not much to do ...

unless other problems ...

sure i understand  your usage    :-+

at some point there was some companies / services who could rebuild  crt tubes,  alas i think it's long gone :(

and the problems would be to redo the convergence, focus   adjustments  ....
