Wanted: Discontinued Agilent Equipment
« on: June 17, 2012, 11:47:56 pm »
Following a few other posts, I began to wonder how it would be possible to get discontinued Agilent product models at cheap(er) prices than the brand new models. For example, a U1252A (instead of U1252B). I have searched around a bit and have found it rather difficult to find anything, even on Ebay...

What I am on the lookout for:

- Multimeters
- LCR meters
- Power Supplies
- Oscilloscopes (maybe, as they are rather expensive even used or outdated)

My main goal is to get good, unused equipment that was discontinued, at prices lower than the updated models. So, if anyone here happens to work for (or knows someone who does) Agilent or any distributor, or just have some discontinued equipment you might want to sell, please let me know, I may be interested! I am a hobbyist looking to build up a home lab.

Check out agilent certiprime on ebay. That is agilents own outlet. They are demo machines that are refurbished and sold with full warranty. Sometimes 30 to 50% off.

Have eBay alert you when you search words are found.  I've tracked Agilent DMMs for several years and type pop up now and then at good prices.

Hmmm, definately pays to actually learn how to use Ebay  :P
That bid was a good buy for whoever got it.

I've seen them go for less than $100.  They are not as popular as Flukes.

Well, distributors like Farnell don't keep discontinued products. In fact, they told me that they return those products to the manufacturer. So I wonder, what does Agilent do with old stock???

They sell it ofcourse! Companies like Tektronix and Agilent also clean / fix older equipment and sell those as factory reconditioned in order to keep customers.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Also check Agilent's web site for their "Remarketing" section of trade-ins and used equipment directly. I believe pricing can be up to 30 to 60% off for refurnished / re-certified quality equipment.

Not as much lower end e.g. handheld devices, but may you may get lucky with good timing.

Tektronix also has a similar section for TekSelect used Tek equipment.
