Wanted: ERSA X-tool only
« on: July 10, 2018, 09:59:04 pm »
I am looking for an Ersa X-tool desoldering iron. The iron only, not the station.

Thanks,
Alex

If you are looking for new unit you can find them here:

They are expensive :(

Yup - although not too bad considering the full system is ~1000 Euros.

I will keep it mind, many thanks.

Are you intending to use a separate compressor for the vacuum supply?

Yes - have you got an x-tool?

No, but I'm considering buying one eventually. I have an i-con 2V station, so I'd need a vacuum compressor and the iron.

I would suggest to not buy old X-tool. It sucks for working for prolonged time. Handle simply heats up really fast and becomes impossible to handle. Also you need to buy replacement containers for solder. But the worst part there is also a small filter after container which gets wet from flux fumes really fast and suction force drops tremendously. It's OK for occasional component removal. But if you need to deslolder a lot of pins, like x16 PCI-E connector, it becomes a real problem.

Certainly buy x-tool vario, not the old one.

Although if you have non V/vario station, x-tool vario is not supported.

Yeah, I wasn't even considering the old one. It looks super unergonomic.
