Hi
I am from Australia and like India we cant buy Fluke direct from Tequipment.NET.

There is at least one reputable dealer in Australia who will sell imported Flukes under the table  ;) and will honor the local warranty themselves.
They sell Flukes cheaper than the official Fluke Australia agents who have to pay Fluke's hugely inflated local markup.

http://www.boughen.com.au/multimeters/clampmeters/fluke-289-digital-multimeter/

AU$925 + gst. (~US$680) at this place. a lot of places wont give a price as they probably not holding stock or are ashamed of their prices.

vs TE.net US$539. so it slips under the AU$1000 gst threshold.

goto include freight too. as freight forwarding is very far from free.

so in this case I would go with the Australian dealer. Wasn't the case a few years ago.

Fluke have lowered their Oz dealer markup in recent years, so it has gotten better. Still not great though.
Used to be the same thing for Rigol too. I can remember when a Rigol in Oz cost twice that as the US (even factoring conversion)

I with no experience on the subject of counterfeit Fluke would not like to comment much...

Having had that seen in the link https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/fluke-clone/ used the word 'Genuine' in the subject line of current forum of discussion. Hence, counting on 25+ yrs. wisdom of Dave in the industry, I leave to the choice of buyer about their decision...
Contemporarily encouraging everyone or anyone who even accidentally visit to this forum of mine and have had sufficient evidence of proving the subject of clone or counterfeit FLUKE, please bring it to light...

Your effort will be greatly appreciated by all the viewers, specially the ones who is making a choice to buy Fluke meter/s!

Sunny regards,
Raj

"Here are the screenshots of the online dealers as listed by Fluke USA on Aug 18, 2015."

Thank you very much! Atleast, we can contact them to see if anyone turns out to be of our help!

element14.com is of help but, their neck choking rate/s ($$$$) is something to consider, atleast I reckon!

@ HackedFridgeMagnet

"I got around the distributor agreement by using a forwarding house and buy using a US address. I used comGateway but there are many others."

Thanks for your value added post! I know, there are many like me who doesn't know about it. It can be a great solution..
For link: http://www.comgateway.com/

If you can kindly put up some more sites!!

"But one downside is what to do if you need warranty."

Yea, that's a big ISSUE! But, if one can use it in bench top and not rugged environment or be very careful about their handling specially with correct reading procedure/s, it can survive for years. Fluke has a former reputation of a few decades of sustainability!!
In case, anything goes wrong during warranty period, one should be ready to spend some GOOD $$$ for servicing. Atleast, I suppose, considering the fact that they spent quite less at the time of initial buy (like using .comgateway), had they really bought from respective dealer/s!!

INDIA price for brand new: 87-v: Rs. 34,500
                                           289: Rs. 82,500 (=approx. $1213.00 W/taxes  @ current 1 USD= approx. Rs. 68)
Now, if I can get 289 with say $699 ++Taxes + comgateway charges, say $900 max. that is far better choice than $1213 ($1213-900=$313)

What everyone reckons?

Thanks to all my viewers/visitors, and to all your value added contributions for bringing out some hidden facts & figures to light!!

Now, that we have seen placing one Fluke meter on our workbench is not a hard cup of tea, though getting warranty can be an issue if sourcing is made elsewhere and not from local Fluke distributor, I therefore, would like to lead the forum to hit a new topic : https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/%27professional-multimeter-on-table-top%27/msg735449/#msg735449

I hope this forum is of some help to someone who was in dark before reading this!!

Keep on contributing

Let me be crystal clear, I and Excavatoree, said in the other thread, there are NO counterfeit Fluke multimeters.  Excavatoree explained how that Fluke was missing its brand name on the front.

Some people, like myself, modemhead, Excavatoree and others, buy broken meters might mix and match parts to make something work because the Fluke 80 series is quite modular, but there are no counterfeit Fluke meters.

@3roomlab

First of all thanks for your suggestion. I appreciate it!

"why dont you get the agilent? 1253B"

Pl correct me if anything.., Dave has brought out some downsides of Agilent U1253A. One of the issues like battery support :scared: I don't know whether it was rectified in "B" series..??
Hence, I'm not making this a choice. But, I must consider now, let me see whether Dave has put up that review or not?

Just gonna park this URL here with the suggestion that you look at the 87V/EV2 "Industrial True RMS Multimeter Combo Kit" kit, which Amazon will happily send abroad, unlike the bare 87V. (I know this first-hand.)

You can thank me later. ;)

@    tooki  8)

Yeah, I must thank you before I place my order!!

Kindly note, its from Amazon.com. One of the authorized distributors of FLUKE. So, no local warranty  issue/s.....

Also, it's US made and not that ... China make!!

So, guys it's:-
> authorized distributor
> US made
> Reasonable price
> What else??

Precisely. Even with express shipping and all, it came out about $200 cheaper than buying here in Switzerland. (And believe it or not, when I got mine, I actually got a defective Fluke -- it had a crack on the plastic shroud of one of the jacks. Amazon overnighted me a replacement and refunded the shipping cost to mail them back the defective one!!!)

@ zucca

From the link you furnished:-
"Customer return, all as new. Everthing looks unused - apart from the box which looks like UPS played football with it."

Some may consider:
Who knows the original parts were tampered or not?
Are they refurbished/ reconditioned...?
is it in line with the Fluke's factory settings....?
Have we account for tolerances % of the components inside?
USED. But, price is 59%+VAT

"Nice set, lifetime warranty on the meter so no worries ever."
Issuing body??

Pl look! I'm neither encouraging nor discouraging anyone to buy. It is just a consideration one can raise....

Buying is absolutely in sole discretion!

Too late for you then,

BTW TopLoser is backed by a lot of happy customers here at the EEVblog and knows what he is selling and you can take his word for what he states.

Yup. Amazon's corporate culture may be insane, but their customer service is pretty much perfect.

Curses!!! Amazon no longer ships this item abroad, and the price has gone up on it massively. (I paid $400 for it in February before shipping, now it's $540!!!  :wtf:  :o )
