Title: WTB: Old O-scope
Post by: The_Welding_Library_Guy on February 17, 2019, 12:54:46 am
Hey all.

Looking to get a hold of a old analog scope for relatively cheap. I'm wanting to play around with and learn the scope with out worrying about letting the magic smoke out of $500. So I figured an old analog one would make a good sacrificial trainer.

I'm pretty sure I've got another GW Instek GOS-6112 around. I'll check tomorrow or Monday afternoon and let you know if it's still good. Yours for free provided it checks out.

Where in VA are you located? You could try Craigslist, though nova has more hits.

Once again, pay shipping and I'll send you an OLD o scope.  Stock picture attached, but the one I have worked when I got it a long time ago.  does not appear to function now although the tube heaters do light up.

That is a very sensible course of action. As a rule of thumb, pay $1 per MHz for an old analogue scope :)

Do make sure any scope you purchase is fully working. While repairing scopes can be fun and rewarding, it is not something a beginner should attempt.

If there are hackspaces/makerspaces nearby, they may have scopes and a community.

I highly recommend the PM3394 analog & digital scope....often quite a cheap bargain if you are willing to wait.  Rather unique  since it has digital storage (with digital "noise"  or analog  mode very clean)I bought around 20 of them (my wife was wondering why we had a pallet of scopes) , sold a few to friends.  Here is an example (not mine)
