WTB: Oscilloscope in Cornwall, UK
« on: May 25, 2012, 11:03:50 pm »
I'm looking for essentially any functional scope (cal not overly important), dual channels are always a bonus, and a function generator would be nice to go with it, in Cornwall. Up to around £50, can't justify more.

Anyone selling?

Monkeh,I can only suggest Hamfests & the like, though whether there are many in the wilds of Cornwall,I don't know! ;D

Prices for 100MHz Tek,HP,& Philips analogs seem to be around $A130 at the one & a half Hamfests we have here in West Oz each year, which translates to roughly 85 quid in your money.
Reading through the various threads on this forum, they seem to be approximately that level in most countries,so you may be battling to get something of that standard for much cheaper.

Back in the day,the UK had a lot of Electronics instrument manufacturers,so you may pick up the odd Telequipment,Solartron,or something along those lines.
Those companies,& I believe, your Military, also used a fair amount of imported stuff,so keep on looking, even if you have to do a few road trips! ;D

One coming up - 8 JULY CORNISH RAC 49th MOBILE RALLY - Penair School, St Clements, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 1TN. www.gx4crc.com

I do have an ISR640 40MHz**, dual channel, delayed time base and freshly calibrated available but was looking more in the £80-100 bracket. Plus postage (£15).

PM me if interested.

** 3dB point measured at 46MHz, triggering up to 58MHz

Travel is not an option for me, and if I did have the money to drive half way around the country on off chances, I wouldn't be looking for cheap, local scopes..

Thanks, but it's simply more than I can afford for now.

Try the Truro rally then. If by "Travel is not an option for me" that includes travel to Truro then ebay and patience will be your best bet. There is at least one 'scope in your price range ending in the next 6 hours which currently has no bids.

Truro is achieveable by several means, so yes, I might try dropping in there in July. Cheers for the heads-up on that one.

The Telequipment one? Yeah, I might take a shot at that.

E: Well, I just bought that. Here's hoping it works.

Ebay is the answer to all. I got a three channel one recently for that sort of money.

Hi Monkeh,

How about some pix & stuff about the Telequipment?

I always suggest them as an option for people in the UK,so it would be nice to see how it panned out.

I'm expecting it tomorrow. I'll be thoroughly inspecting it before even powering it on, so lots of pics.

If anyone has a copy of the D75 mainframe manual, I'd appreciate a copy of it. I've got the circuit diagrams and the manuals for the other components, but not for the mainframe.

Okay, so no pics today. HV's non-functional, so I need to get in and repair it. Should be fun.

The D83 is said to be the same except for the larger CRT - manuals on BAMA http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/telequipment/d83

Repair turned out to be very simple. A single 1M resistor had gone open. I'll try and take some decent pics after I've cleaned it out and got it to focus nicely.
