« on: June 02, 2012, 06:07:17 pm »
Hello Dears
i want to buy a 100MHZ-1GS/s oscilloscope.
but i dont know rigol is better or GW instek or TDS1012-C-EDU Tektronix.
i need a low noise oscop to measure analog signals around mv amplitude with High accuracy and quality of measuring.
so whats your suggestion?
please help me.
thanks so much.

i need a low noise oscop to measure analog signals around mv amplitude with High accuracy and quality of measuring.

Then you schould specyfy how low noise, how high accuracy, and witch quality of measuring.

Often, in the same price class, both scopes fail or both pass your requirements.

If you try and take a cat apart to see how it works, the first thing you have on your hands is a nonworking cat.

The only scopes i know of that work in the mV domain are Rohde & Schwartz machines.
Other scopes mostly limited to the 10mV/div range and already show 1 div of noise....
The r/s has 1mV/div and will show about 1/5 div of noise there..

Or you have to start working with preamps ( active probes with gain )

unfortunatly i can just buy RIGOL brand or GW instek or Tektronix(old Models).
for example i want to measure a load cell output that has 10 mv Amplitude in full scale.
and i want to see the ripple amplitude on a dc level of my sensors.
so which model of these brands is good or better for this porpuse???
thanx again.

A Tektronix TDS500 or TDS700 should do it. These go down to 1mV per division and depending on the exact model they have a high resolution averaging mode (>10bit). Check the manual (downloadable from Tektronix) if a scope you have an eye on has peak-detect and high resolution. You should get at least an A model and be prepared to replace about 80 SMD electrolytic capacitors if the scope is from around 1990 because they have a problem with leaking capacitors. Later models (>1995) don't have this problem.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
