Music videos, watching people play video games, people doing goofy stuff, etc. That's, by far, what sells. --- End quote --- Ayyy, goofy stuff is subsidizing technical stuff then. All hail goofy stuff! |

The respective markets also clearly show that, well outside of Youtube. Just the way it is. Agree that the only thing you can do on an individual basis so that learning content doesn't completely disappear is to support that in any way you can, and if you're so inclined (/skilled), produce some yourself. --- End quote --- Back in the day, the elders would stroke their beards & bewail the fact that:- "A potentially great medium for education, in the form of Television, had been wasted on entertainment!" My rejoinder to that was:- "If I want to be educated, I'll go to Night School!" Of course, that was when Night School was worth attending, instead of the "Monkey see, monkey do" crud we have now! Back, more on topic---------my pet hate is the Youtube clips showing somebody unpacking a DSO or whatever, turning it on, & displaying some random signal. No voice over, no captions, just annoying theme music, reminiscent of that in the background of 1980s pornos. |
