10 megawatt = Shoot down ballistic missiles.
10 milliwatt = Play with cat.

Dude, 10mW = blind the cat, and yourself. 1-3mW is what you get in commercial (legal) laser pointers, and even those need to be treated with respect.

You're being a bit overly dramatic.  I was just using it as an example of the difference between mega and milli.
Can you do some lasting damage with 10mW, sure, but you'd have to be doing something really stupid or doing it on purpose.

The reason the old 5mW pointers were limited to 1-3mW was because a small number of stupid kids were intentionally shinning it into there eyes directly and on purpose.

I'm very very confused.

So the laser light show is cancelled?

Due to bad weather no doubt. I suppose vaporising the literal fricking atmosphere will do that to you.

Just beware of attracting the space cats. (They do exist... Pump it loud)

Can't wait for the next one! Should be a proper party. One to die for.

🤣😂

:palm: 10 Megawatt.  WTF?  Are you trying to make a visible from Earth point of light on the Moon?

Can we use the mirror up there somehow? I'd love to be able to torment my cat while I'm travelling overseas.

I certainly wish I were involved in such an event. Chechen music and culture is utterly beautiful! The respect and dignity, the pure joy of these people dancing, coupled with the infectious, powerful, strong rhythms and tuneful music is something else! ... oh, and... the women....  :o :D - speechless beauty!!

Has anyone noticed that the thread title has changed to ask about 10 TERAWATTS while the url still says megawatts? Shining from anywhere on earth I'm sure that could entertain martians in situ. 10 terawatts is 10,000 large offshore windframs all running together.

I think the OP, got worried that their original thread might get noticed by the moderation team, and get them into trouble.  So they changed things, such as the title, to try and hide the evidence, of their activities.

10 TW, is approximately 20 times the entire electricity power consumption, of all of America, at any given time.

The OPs laser will probably be fine, as long it doesn't operate for longer than a few picoseconds, at a time.

“Worried”? Haha. Not a bit of it. I exaggerated to clarify the fact that it was a joke, and didn’t have the desire to trawl the entire post editing it to match the new title, ultra pedantically.

It’s clearly a joke… golly….

“Hide the evidence”? Lol. Anyone with half a modicum of common sense knows forum admin can access a change log and see what I’ve edited

Never assume - don’t assume people lack certain knowledge. I’m a grown man not a child - I know this forum sometimes breeds an air of childishness and back-biting, but there’s nothing “hidden” here. The day I’m “scared” of something online would be a fine day indeed.

People take things too seriously. I’ve got a terawatt laser pen for anyone wanting to play with me. 🤪😂

Being “a man” doesn’t automatically mean one has to be all serious and post nothing silly. In fact, that’s a pretty immature, insecure outlook. Having fun is a beautiful thing.

I like having fun; it’s why I’m so young of heart and don’t look anywhere near my age. It’s fine - you be all serious and have fun in your own way :). Happy 2023!!

I just spent half a day watching Chechen and Circassian dance videos. I wish my culture had that beautiful tradition.

Upon reading up on the back-ground,, it seems like a better way to find a bride then Youtube, Dating Sites, and swipe left/right.  If Mom and Grandma agree of course.

I’m so pleased to hear that. I spend vast amounts of hours every day watching Chechen, Circassian, Russian and Dagestani music and wedding dancing. It’s very very uplifting! Bless you.
