1080 on YouTube videos
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:27:14 pm »
just noticed a small annoyance with youtube;

i just uploaded a short clip (13 seconds), it takes youtube about as long as the clip to switch to 1080

is there any way to force it to play in 1080 from the beginning?

Not that I know of. Why would you need to anyways? If someone can watch 1080p they will switch, if not, they will use 720p or whichever resolution.

One of the best ways to take advantage of all that YouTube has to offer is to enhance your video viewing experience by installing the Magic Actions for YouTube™ browser extension.

I highly recommend this. I cant even think of using youtube without this anymore.

Magic Actions is easy to use!

Key features v6.7:

? AutoHD feature - start play all YouTube™ videos in HD
+ Highres > HD1080p > HD720p > 480p > 360p > 240p > 144p
+ works with HTML5 player!

? Ad Block - blocks annoying video ads

? Instant control over volume by scrolling mouse wheel!
+ OSD on-screen display
+ works with HTML5 player!

? Cinema Mode - 1-click and the whole page is shaded
+ make you feel as if you were in a movie theater!
+ click again to toggle back to the normal view
+ over 20 predefined color themes
+ your own custom colors
+ works with HTML5 player!

? Cool Day/Night toggle swicth to browse YouTube in black or white

? Display user info in comments
+ country flag, uploaded videos count, views, subscribers, description, date joined etc.

? Expand videos to full window size

? Auto Wide - always play in wide player mode
+ works with HTML5 player!

indeed, but the clip is finished by the time you see it in HD. Even if you manually select 1080 it takes about 10 seconds after the video starts before it jumps into 1080... my clip is 13 seconds long

i guess i could just pad the beginning out with a title or something  :-//
