12VHPWR adapter failure

stranded wire is sucking solder up is what makes wire stiff. with inconsistency of soldering temperature and speed it gets worse.
mechanical securing in some hole before soldering would have made it more reliable

But the gist should be clear: The adapter that nVidia themselves include with their 2000 dollar GPU is utter and total crap and can easily melt if just slightly mistreated.
