That's an impressive fake:
He had to hack the multimeter to show a voltage reading when shorted, and he had to mount a battery inside the motor, which are connected to the motor with the external coil or in series with the 9 V battery. But the illusion is not perfect, e.g. no voltage drop at all when he connects the motor to the coil and measures the voltage with the multimeter in parallel, all the time very constant -5.92 V, with or without load, not at least some last digit noise, which is very unreasonable. And with this voltage, it should spin faster. He should improve his Arduino code inside the multimeter and use a bigger hidden battery
Ok, after thinking about it, maybe not that impressive: It would be possible to route the 9 V battery in the multimeter to the connectors and when shorting it outside, it would close the circuit, measuring the internal battery (or an extra battery, if measuring the same battery with which is is working is a problem). Still a nice idea.
-5.9V is about right for an ICL7106 in the standard configuration with input + connected to battery minus. That is about right for the internal reference source for the analogue system. Easy enoughto place a smaller motor inside that motor there and still have room for the CR2032 cells to provide the power. note the meter reading does not change at all, as the wire is short enough and current low enough that voltage drop is less than 5mV across the wire. 9V battery probably has been opened and shorted out inside.
I didn't see him measure the 9V battery with the meter either.
If it were me, I would have made a fake version of the hard drive magnet with some watch batteries inside, use the hot glue to hide the wires to tap into the coil.

I thought about using the rotational forces of a bearing when you pass a current through it. These people annoy and amuse in equal amounts. Sorry don't mean to offend any free energy freaks out there.

The only free energy devices we create at some point certainly wont truely be free and neither will they be simplistic. I put plenty of stock in getting to fusion first.
My first thought was that he put one of those qi wireless chargers or some high power cable UNDER the wood boards and the inductor was picking up.
But then, I read the explanations in the posts above and they make sense.
Fake HDD magnet and batteries inside would also make the most sense to me.

I had no idea of what you come across, when you "type free" energy in to youtube.
I've already seen how this is done. They take the HDD magnet and grind holes for two button cells under the coil spots. The coil that sticks out is just to distract you that both sides are not actually connected.
2 3V button cells show 5.9 V

Or the fact that two cool pieces of a special metal can suddenly become very warm when held close together? To an unknowning observer this would violate the laws of thermodynamics (and most likely kill them)

Or that the photoelectric effect could not be explained with classical electromagnetic theory?
