There is also one listed for sale (https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/DeLorean-DMC-12-1981/SSE-AD-3534741/?Cr=0) in Queensland.

Looks great - a nice early 81 with black interior. Sadly it has the lame 3 speed auto. If you get a DeLorean you really want the 5 speed manual.

I would like it with auto. I have 3 speed auto in old Opel and its nice fluent ride
Just why they are so expensive in Europe :'(
-
But the automatic isn't capable of reaching the necessary 88mph. One can only achieve that with the 5 speed.

I absolutely *loathe* slushboxes, I cannot imagine why anyone would want one in a sports car, it takes all the fun out of driving. You don't even really drive an automatic, you just sort of aim.

Thats where Marty left it...Ill tell the Doc. :-DD

To be fair, as slow and as mediocre the DMC12 was, these days it's the sort of car that is rarely driven (and if you do drive it, you'd drive it gently and as far away from other cars as possible). In fact, you'd probably design your house around the car, not because the car itself is special, but what it resembles. BTTF is among the best movies of all time. It's definitely my "desert island" movie.

That would be even more reason to want the manual version since the car in the movie had a manual.
