And what's the point?

All the data you retrieve via their fast connection.. still has to get down the slow pipe to you.

Now you know how I feel.

Come on, explain how that connection is useful when you still have the same old bottleneck at your end.

You can do some tasks remotely!
Like download bigger files in seconds do your work and transfer files back IF YOU WANT.

And now I'm trying to think of a practical application for that, where your connection is fast enough for remote desktop, but slow enough that the setup time doesn't cost you more than you gain..

So, you want to download a 1GB from the internet REALLY FAST. You remote connect to the virtual PC at the Amazon, and start the download. You will get the file REALLY FAST. It is a movie-file, so you want to view it. But you are not happy as there is no sound and the playback is veeeery choppy. So, you need to transfer that 1GB file to your local computer. No, you will not get that file at 1Gb/s in 10 seconds.

Every coin in the world at least has 2 sides,
Use it for your advantage, don't watch movies if you already know it can't do that better.

This thread strikes me as a really poorly formatted advertisement.

If you spent some money amazon will give you more storage, or whatever hardware you want.

I was talking about data transfer, actually. But yes, if you spend money you get more. 'free' gets you very, very little as far as your advertised superfast internet connection goes.

Hmm,
@others
This is glorified-click baiting. Please stop responding to such useless waste of time.

@kedar
Everyone here who has replied to you has tried to make you understand where the bottleneck is.
You get defensive and start acting like a child. Please refrain from posting if you cannot understand and/or reply back in a logical manner.
If you are really excited about it, then feel happy and if you still cant keep quiet, have a pint or two.

Now read this, go and reply back @1GBPS on the amazon server  :-DD
If god made us in his image,
and we are this stupid
then....

He was just providing an example of something that could theoretically take advantage of a 1 Gbps connection, and showing that it would be useless over this Amazon thing.  Now it's your turn.  What possible application could actually take advantage of a remote 1 Gb/s connection with a 15 GB drive, when anything you download still needs to be transferred back to your machine over your slow connection?

Also, you DO KNOW that there's a big difference between 1 Gbps and 1 GBps, right?  So which is it?

And WTF is this crap you keep throwing around about it being faster than copy-paste?  What does that even mean?
