3D configurator for website

I'm an electronics guy and got a project to design a website.
So i'm not planning to do all the work on my own but i'm interested in the technology.

I would like to build a 3D web configurator. The 3D STL files are loaded from a server and the user should be able to choose several files and move them around in the web browser. I know this is a rather complex thing to do. I have found a company https://www.perspectix.com/en/px_webconfigurator working on this technology but i was wondering if there are (open source) alternatives available?
