3D Headset PC Monitor as VR from salvaged 6 inch high resolution phone screen

what is involved in getting a 6 inch LCD 1080x1920 phone screen to work as a VGA PC or HDMI video monitor?
for a DIY VR or 3D headset for the playback of split screen video dioramas.
most LCD video display driver boards are for low 4.3 inch 320X240 low resolution LCD displays or
for 1080x1920 displays that are over 15 inch in size.
I have a cheap VR type phone headset (3D VR Glasse) with the two lenses for seeing a phone screen up close at just 80mm
so how do you connect a 6 inch 1080x1920 pixel LCD screen salvaged from an old phone to work as a VGA PC or HDMI video monitor?
has anyone accomplished this type of modification using an off the shelf LCD video display driver board?
or is this all a waste of time?

I suspect you'd be far better off from a practicality/productivity perspective just using an old phone intact. You could reflash it with customized software or just use it as-is with an app installed rather than salvage the screen and then try to build something around that. (though admittedly this potentially makes for a less interesting hardware project)

As most people with VR have discovered, to get truly immersive VR you need something like 2-3K resolution per eye, because the central focal region of the eye has extremely high density. I think you will find it is a bit of a waste of time, the screen-door effect from a standard LCD will be significant too and you will need good optics to avoid distortions at the edges of the image.

People used to make DIY headsets for flying RC planes/quads FPV. Usually with a fresnel lens in front of a 5" lcd display.
It was mostly ok for that purpose because back then we were all flying standard definition analog camera systems. So the quality was pretty bad to start with.
The cost was pretty low. Could make one for $40. But it wasn't VR, just single LCD panel both eyes looked at.
