3D Printing services in Australia
« on: January 05, 2015, 02:36:15 am »
Hi all,

I'm wondering if there is a cost effective, reasonable quality, 3D printing service in Australia. I just want to get one part printed (lens holder for a Flir E4).

or - if there are any overseas services that work well from here.

- Rob.
Not easy, not hard, just need to be incentivised.

Can you post the STL file or share a link to the hack?

Post 1488 ...

I printed it on my 3D printer and it looks crude but fits well my E4 (I don't have the lens yet, where can I get it?).

If you don't find a local solution for printing, PM me your mailing address and I will mail you one. If you can find the latest STL file for the E4 focus tool I can mail it as well.

Zapta,

Thanks for the kind offer, I may end up hand crafting a solution yet. I'll let you know if I get desperate!  :)

I purchased this lens (20mm dia / 101mm or 4" focus):

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261541512155?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Postage time was good to Aus (about 2 weeks).

I've held it up to the front of the E4 and looked at a PCB, works very well as a macro lens.

Thanks. I will order myself a lens.

I also printed this design http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:407201 , it's better IMO, more compact and fits the camera better.
