Dave is right, this is why you need 4 multimeters!

(UC3906 lead-acid batt charger i'm building)

I hope there's a fuse in series with that battery.

Yes, even cheap meters are good for this type of thing.

no fuse, prototype don't need it as i have everything under control and would add more power loses and dangling annoyances, besides it's a "spent" battery.
final build will have a fuse.

he, they might be cheap but it's all i have, and that Fluke 8020A ain't no cheapie!(in it's time).
the Eico one is my first/only DMM my parents bought me, accompanied me throughout all of highschool and even suffered some accidents :D and it's pretty inaccurate.
The uni-t is my brother's, but he barely used it and i like it, has nice functions/ranges and is quite accurate(compared to the Fluke one as ref)

My first meter that my dad gave me (I was about 7 or so) was an Eico - but it was an a copy of the first Simpson 260 - analog!  (Man I'm old) Of course, The Fluke 8020 was out then, but my dad couldn't afford to buy one for himself, much less his kid.
