Title: "Op Amps for Everyone" book has changed
Post by: MikeK on February 20, 2013, 09:33:08 pm
The new edition (4th) is out and it's less than half the number of pages of the previous edition.  The index shows that a lot of material has been dropped.  I been meaning to pick this up so I'll go with the 3rd edition.

Does any one have the latest ed?  Is there anything to be gained?

Hi Mike

If you are talking about the TI book by Ron Mancini, there's a link to a pdf on the TI website posted here (https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/if-you-had-to-buy-one-electronics-reference-book-what-would-it-be/msg179300/#msg179300) by Olsenn. I have no idea what edition or version it is but at a cursory glance it does look complete

Yeah, I do have that old version, but my Kindle DX doesn't provide page access as fast as a book.  I still prefer paper.

I'm glad to hear my posts have been useful  ;D

The free version of the book is great, but it is quite a bit out of date in certain areas, and not everything in the TOC is available (they took out certain parts from the free version). I own the 3rd Edition and it is my favourite electronics book. I'm not sure what is missing from the 4th Edition, but based solely on the page count and how efficient the 3rd Edition is, I'd say you are better off going for the 3rd Edition if you are going to buy yourself a copy.

I have a large collection of fantastic material in pdf format, went out and bought a super-duper tablet in the hope that it may be useful to read these books but I may as well not have them for the exact same reason.

Thanks for the heads-up on that document.
Years ago a sereis of articles were published in an australian electronics magazine and due to popular demand they released it in magazine format on its own. Its brilliantly written by an author with a sense of humor, so its also very entertaining. Its put away at the moment, all I remember is that it was called "Op-amps Explained"

Hi everyone.
Let me start by saying "sorry", for reviving an old topic. What I would like to know, now that a fair amount of time has passed, what is the generela concensus, which is the better edition and why. What has been taken out and what has remained. Where the topics etc obsolete, are there any references what has changed.

A good run-down would be great of the changes compared to the 3rd edition with the 4th edition.

Thank you in advance and have a great day  ;D  :D I just hope it won't be an " I don't Kow" style answer  :-//  are the updates or new contents worth buying the 4th edition if someone has the 3rd (and no, I don't have the 3rd edition).

You can probably find both versions on a torrent site. I'm pretty sure the latest version is available (can't check right now). Get a copy of qbittorrent and do a search.  If you find a version you like, you can purchase it (assuming it's still in print).

(God, I hate typing on a phone!)
