"Sociable" sidebar. How do I get rid of it?

What sidebar are you talking about, and what video is it covering?

edit: I see it now. On the main EEVblog.com page. Can you click on the "sociable" tab to minimize it?

My guess is that one of the legitimate banner ad is to blame, the company probably added extra webcode to their ad to spawn it.

Don't worry,  I'm sure Dave will remove it.

it looks to me like an actual setup plugin on the site,
filter is adblocker is "http://www.eevblog.com/wp-content/plugins/sociable/*"

and that gets rid of it,

So are all the buttons for Twitter, Facebook and Google+ on every post and all the "social" buttons almost everywhere else. Seriously, has anyone ever seen them being used? I can understand having them under videos in blog posts, but they cause slowdowns and eat bandwidth. I've been using mobile Internet for a few days recently and eevblog.com and this forum were barely navigable comparing to "social crap free" sites.

I'm not sure if it's the "social" buttons on each forum post, but something within the last few weeks has made the forum really painful to use on Mobile Safari. When going to the latest unread post in a thread, you have to wait about 30 seconds extra for something or other to stop loading over the network (the spinner keeps going, even though the page seems to be fully rendered) and until it does, you cannot scroll up or down. The page just springs back to the anchor on the unread post. Trying to scroll even seems to reset the time it takes for the mystery process to finish. If I'm feeling inspired during the week, I'll run the browser through a proxy to see what seems to be causing it.

When they appeared I blocked

platform.twitter.com
apis.google.com
plusone.google.com

to get rid of them.  My filtering proxy already blocks the floaty thing the screenshot here is the only time I have seen it. I don't have accounts with the top two icons and I have no idea what the other 6 are and I have said before I would never 'like' or +1 anything while being denied the option to dislike or -1 it.

Oops, sorry, never meant to put that popup there, that's annoying.
Must have defaulted to on when there was an automatic update of the Sociable plugin.
It's now disabled.
