 I was "zombing out"* in front of the TV,when  "Today Tonight" came on,& our old annoying,banned friend
Keef Wivanef  appeared,still pushing his barrow of angst,& making a bloody fool of himself! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!

* "zombing out" -------taking on a zombie like condition,mainly while TV viewing,beer drinking,etc.

"Today Tonight"? That sounds like a low-grade show. Like they were late to the game and all the good permutations of words that would sound like a night show were already taken.

I took a look at this Keef guy, and apparently he seems to be in the business of debunking a solar power project seemingly made by a conman. I support that cause, but Keef seems to be extremely immature and annoying. So I can't quite make up my mind.

It isn't really a night show,it's tacked onto the end of the 6 pm news.
It just follows up various things which aren't really urgent "news",but may be interesting.

Strangely,they recycled the name--another network had a similar show of the same name about 5 years before the CH7 one started.
Happens a bit--not a lot of long memories in that part of TV land!

Keef?--Yes,he is so irritating,that any valid points he has are lost in the noise!

Today Tonight (and the others like it) are shows for people who believe in everything they see on TV.
66% less truthful than news and almost every segment someones getting paid off or advertising a product.
I think they have a valuable place in society, perhaps for journalists that sell their souls to eventually aspire to.

Conspiracy theories sound good,but I've worked in Television.

The News Dept don't have the time for that crap,even for "Today Tonight"---the time they can spend on any one story is quite limited,so their coverage is necessarily superficial.
In fact,over the years you find them arguing both sides--not so much for balance,as that they have forgotten what they did a year or so back!

Advertising a product?--Maybe,but on many occasions,I have seen them "bite the hand that feeds them",with segments extremely critical of major advertisers like Coles,Woolworths,etc.

Many of the "products" they cover are "out of mainstream" stuff which pretty much sinks like a stone.
I don't think the Mango ointment bloke is paying anything.

What freaked me out was when they would ignore the Technical expertise in their own Engineering Dept,& get in so-called "Electronics experts".who would talk a load of twaddle.

That is in fact,a classic example of "biting the hand that feeds them".

I'm sure Super Amart,the Good Guys,RetraVision,Bunnings,etc.would be unimpressed,by effectively being told that they sell overpriced crap!

Commercial TY Stations do have some commitment to their paid advertisers & program sponsors,but these are pretty well balanced by the fact that competitors all advertise.

So far,the balance of power has been in the TV Network's favour,so upsetting,say Coles,is unlikely to lead to removal of advertising in Prime time.

This allows the Networks to cover other cheaper suppliers,& make themselves look like "the battler's friend"

I always take these stories of "bargains" with a grain of salt,as there are always "ifs" & "buts" when you come to accessing them.

They made a big fuss about Kogan at one time,but I've never seen any paid advertising for them.
I have heard reports elsewhere about poor service from that company.

As I commented,Today Tonight is fairly superficial,as are many of its competitors.

Journalists are lay people,so they take what advice they can,in the limited time available & run with it.
"In depth reporting" it aint!

That said,the ABC's New Inventors which has "Tech Savvy" pretensions,got sucked in,too!

As much as I don't care for the panalists in the New Inventors, to be fair, that had nothing to do with the production scam side of things, it was just a prototype them IIRC.
