A question about 24v Lithium battery packs
« on: May 01, 2023, 08:38:46 pm »
I'm having to replace a 7S4P Lithium battery pack and thought I'd be able to easily get my hands on one from China but many suppliers won't send them to the UK on Aliexpress for example. So would anyone be able to recommend a trustworthy supplier in or available to the UK. I found this on Amazon and am scratching my head how it's rated at 15Ah for a 4P when from my limited knowledge Lithium 18650 batteries are typically rated at around 2300 mAh to a maximum of 3600 mAh but even then this is contradicted depending on what website you go to, so I'm a little confused. Another one here is even rated at 24Ah! How are they managing this?

I don't know about UK suppliers, but to answer your other question, the specs on batteries from many Chinese sellers are quire simply pure fabrication, they manage this by lying. As the old saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

The realistic ones seem to be rated 10-12Ah (2500 to 3000mAh per cell). So 15-25Ah is a fabrication, as mention by james.

An electronic load that is capable of testing the pack capacity is around $20-50. Or a coulomb counter can be added to the device where the pack is used.

Thank you. Do you think £100-£150 is about right for a 7S4P pack?

$3.60 to $5.40 per cell seems reasonable for quality cell pack yeah.
