AD online product selector - range selection almost unusable?
« on: August 30, 2018, 01:52:44 pm »
It must be just me as they must have spent a fortune on the website and surely would have spent even a few minutes trying it out?

Try as I might, I can't fathom out how to change one of the minimum/max values in one of their product selector tables *if* the value has a scale postfix -eg. 35M for an opamp GBW. I'm using Chrome on an Android tablet and a second or two after changing anything in the selector box it reverts to the original value. Firefox on windows can sometimes be made to work but I haven't worked out how to do it reliably. If the value is purely numerical it works as expected.

This is such a fundamental feature, that has not worked properly (for me) for months at least, that I have to worry that senility is at work here ('old people and technology' as my sons' say).

Will someone put me out of my misery and tell me where I'm going wrong? OTOH, if it is a genuine bug, how has it existed for so long? Does nobody use this feature?

Ok, just realized that selecting (highlighting) and replacing the whole field in one go works. Not a good solution as it can sometimes be infuriatingly difficult to get both text selection markers to appear on a tablet (in Chrome at least) after seemingly random combination of tapping and holding and holding, re-tapping and holding, cursing, adjusting tongue angle, tap and hold, hold, hold etc. etc.

It looks like a bug to me after all - I guess they put as much effort into testing/reviewing their website as they do their datasheets...

Hmm - it turns out that the 'select all' 'solution' isn't - some fields work, some don't and I'd tried it on one that does. For example in the 'High speed ADC >= 10 MSPS' table:

http://www.analog.com/en/parametricsearch/10826#/

'Maximum sample rate' can be edited without problem, 'Minimum sample rate' and 'Minimum power' can't. 'Maximum power' behaves even more strangely, probably because the obviously incorrect default of '1.2k' confuses the hell out of it!

Time to report it to Analog, but still surprised no one else here encountered this. I know many hated the website revamp - are you all boycotting it altogether now?

[EDIT] Fixed typo. Have now reported it to AD
