I have a relative that works for the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota. He has mentioned to me how the park service has been wanting to improve their readiness and strategy in fighting forest fires.I'm about a year out before I start working on my senior engineering project and have been brainstorming on ideas that may relate to this issue.

I've researched how temperature changes, wind and terrain characteristics are used to predict wildfire behaviors. I've been thinking of how I could optimize the readability of wildfire behaviors by implementing a system that could be used in the field.

Has anyone had any experience with developing deployable weather systems that may have some advice on how I should proceed in planning a project around this?
