Hi,

Anyone had any experience with this meter? The specs are very impressive.

I have an AM-105 that I bought through tequipment.net because they are closing them out for $45US.  It's a decent meter for $45, but I would not have paid the $100 originally asked for it.  The flip out support is good, but feels thin. The overall size of the unit has a bloated feel about it and the selector switch is a little stiff. I have complaints about the battery compartment also. The AM-160 is a newer model and may be built much better, but it is similar enough in appearance to make me believe it is not that different.

Bottom line - For $100 I would have kicked myself repeatedly for not buying a low end Fluke instead. For $45 it is a really nice meter.

The $245 for the AM-160 would leave me thinking that for myself I would rather have an Agilent U1242a instead. That's just my personal opinion, data logging capabilities and the Agilent name. If you are stuck on getting an Amprobe, I wouldn't fault ya.

EDIT: Somehow I missed the 50,000 count display on the AM-160, that might tip the scales a bit at that price point. It's starting to grow on me quite a bit more!
