Anatomy of a power board
(1/1)
Brumby:
Inspired from this thread, I went out an purchased a couple of these power boards.  This format makes tidying up the typical desktop computer mains power setup much easier and at the price, it was an easy decision.

There was some comment about the fact that in the description, it said "individually switched", but the photo indicated otherwise.  The description also said "4 outlet".  Both of these were wrong and the photo shows the correct item - with 4 outlets and no switching.

However, my curiosity led me to look further, so in the spirit of "Don't turn it on, take it apart"...

This is pretty typical construction and I must say, the housing is pretty nice (IMO) having a reasonably low profile with soft rounded edges and quite sturdy to the feel.  The only thing it doesn't have is keyhole slots for mounting - but for my needs, there are places I can strap cable ties across it.

... and a thought on individual switching.  These aren't the best switches for the job, but they were ones I had on hand that were about the right size, to show placement...

Not ideal, but there is an argument that you can have access to the switching from one end
