| Ankuoo Neo Outlet Switch |

| gnuarm:
I have the Ankuoo Neo outlet switches that measures power being used. I've never figured out if it requires a server someplace or not. It definitely requires a router, i.e. doesn't talk directly to your phone or laptop without one. I haven't used this one for a while and today it isn't responding to the automatic timer settings. It seems to work manually. I tried reaching ankuoo's web site and they are hard down. Even downforeveryone says they are down. I'm wondering if the web site is at all tied to any server the unit may be trying to reach. Seems like the unit should have its own timer that would be sync'd to the Internet time servers though and not require a mothership to tell it when to time on and off. Anyone know how this unit works? |

Congratulations, you've now discovered why "cloud" connected stuff is a bad idea. |

If it's based on an ESP8266, you might be able to run Tasmota on it and remove dependency on the cloud. |
