OK, another find in my labs cupboards but I must be honest, I knew it was there so it was not a surprise.

I know that there are fans of FLUKE on this forum and this item has a connection with FLUKE  :)

The item in question is a Philips PM97 Scopemeter aka the FLUKE PM97 Scopemeter. Fluke owned the rights to produce it as part of a partnership with Philips. From what I understand, the design of the Scopemeter was a joint effort and the identical units were sold under the Philips and FLUKE names with no changes to colour scheme or specifications.

So what is special about my PM97 ?

Well nothing really EXCEPT that this unit is 'as new'  complete with all parts and original box as it was my spare Scopemeter and it only ever came out of storage to test it or if I needed two Scopemeters at the same time. That means virtually never ! Such a Scopemeter in this condition must surely be rare ?

In my opinion, people either love or hate the FLUKE Scopemeters, its looks and user interface divide many. It is a very capable Scopemeter however. It came with a comprehensive set of bespoke safety insulated scope probes and test leads. Top quality throughout. A spare scope probe  is horendously expensive but I do have a few spares so no worries. Standard BNC scope probes also fit and work on the PM97.

These Scopemeters were often used by automotive technicians and those neededing the typical FLUKE performance in their trade.

Hope you find the pictures interesting. I sold my other two used Scopemeters last years for around £160 each so they still demand high prices. This one will be up for re-homing as part of my clear-out.

I also found my 'Fluke scopemeter cables & spares' bag with the PM97. Take a look at this little lot and see if you can determine which belong to which FLUKE product/probe  ;D

The PCB is the official FLUKE demo board to assist in learning how to use your scopemeter. Nice touch. It was only provided with certain PM9x Scopemeter kits and is quite rare.

Sadly this set has sat with the PM97 doing nothing for over 6 years  :(

Any problems with the lcd on it, I believe they give trouble. I am not sure if it is age related, hard knocks or maybe both.
I am still thinking of that icom ic r9000 you 'found'. I had not seen or heard about them in years... But have now gone and read and watched every review and youtube video I can find on them.  I am not sure why. I have not done any serious SW listening in years and there is a light rail track behind my house with 750VDC overhead lines.  It probably spews out RFI all over the spectrum.

I think psychologists have a professional term for such hoarding. I have the same affliction but with books!

Basically, I had to cut down when running out of shelf space...

watch out for the banana plugs on these units, they can pull out. Its press fit and over time the fit becomes bad and the banana jack can break the solder joint but stay in the socket so you have no idea if your meter is connected (and it goes intermittent).

I used vibratite vc3 on mine to fix the banana socket into the chassis. Its kind of a big deal if you want to do a quick test with voltage and your connection depends on cable angle.. which is why I like hard wire multimeter probes on the CAT IV fluke meters.
