Anybody used chip1stop.com?
« on: June 13, 2011, 05:38:07 am »
Hi,

Anybody here used http://www.chip1stop.com/ ?

It's a Japanese International online distributor of electronics. It would be good to use a Japanese online shop for me but I guess it will not be this one...
First impression are:
+ Many parts in database
- Expensive (even by Japanese standards. Examples: Fluke 87V $660, or you can rent one from them for $68/month... LM311P $2.5, digikey $0.53. MatrixOrbital LCD 20x4 LK204-25 $129, digikey $74.65)
- Have to be a member to browse for datasheet (it's free but disturbing I think)
- Many items have Japanese description, not very international
- The help feature (by clicking on [?]) many times return error
- Parametric search is a mess due to badly maintained database. (For instance try looking at character LCD displays.. I don't know when 8MHz became a font color!? Or how many characters is 1.2mcd?)

Anyway I'll try it some more.

Can individuals use Chip One Stop?

According to our terms of use, those who can use our website are limited to individuals who belong to a corporation, organization, or association and use this website for business purposes (sole proprietor). General consumers are not allowed to use or register with us.
I have more than enough experience with distributors who don't want to sell to individuals. If it is beneath them to serve individual customers they are typically shit and hate to provide service even to those they graciously sell to.
I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.

OK! I didn't see. Thanks for point it out. Really bad company then.
But it's a typical Japanese company, over priced and strange rules...
